Last week, Chris Jericho successfully defended his ROH World Championship. It seemed that he had another potential contender in line already, but that may not be the case anymore due to an unforeseen injury.

Bandido has been a figure whose return has been highly anticipated following a series of vignettes hyping it up. He made an appearance at Final Battle last week, confronting The Nueve, but has inadvertently sustained an injury in his return. The luchador ended up landing on the back of his head after a Missile Dropkick, resulting in a concussion.

Reports came in confirming that he was indeed booked for a feud with Chris Jericho and The Learning Tree for the ROH World title. Fightful Select has just added to this, as they revealed that with an injury coming into play, it is unclear whether they'll push forward with it or have to make last-minute changes in the meantime. There is no timeline now regarding Bandido's recovery.

The AEW luchador confirmed his injury after run-in with Chris Jericho

After his brief appearance at the Hammerstein Ballroom for Final Battle, Bandido took to social media to address the events that transpired. He also confirmed that he was indeed going to be out of action for a while due to the concussion.

Before last weekend, the luchador was last seen in action in June 2023, so this was an unfortunate roadblock to his return to the ring. He took to Instagram to confirm that he was waiting until there was no inflammation in his brain, and he thanked fans who have been checking on his condition. Bandido claimed that he would come back stronger than ever.

"What a week-end! All I can do is thank God for allowing me to wake up another day after all that has been through!. The blow was in a delicate area of my head, now just to wait till there is no brain inflammation. Thank you to all my people who have been messaging me asking about my current status! It's been hard to cope with these days with myself, too much frustration runs over my head. The hardest battle of my life is coming, with myself! All I can say is that I will try to return a thousand and one times to the squad!! so I achieve it at some point or stay trying...!" Bandido wrote with the photos below. [via Instagram Translate]

Now, it remains to be seen whether they'll search for a proxy challenger for Chris Jericho. With the brand continuing to gain traction as of its past few shows, there will surely be no shortage of competition for Chris Jericho moving forward.
