A major AEW storyline that has been gaining momentum in recent weeks has been reportedly put on hold. The potential reason behind this decision has come to light.
Hook and Christian Cage have been feuding for the past several weeks. It all started when Cage and The Patriarchy attacked Hook's father, Taz, in the parking lot. The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil has confronted The Patriarchy and even brawled with the heel faction's members.
At AEW Full Gear 2024, Christian Cage surprised fans when he showed up after Jon Moxley successfully defended the AEW World Championship and hit him with a Killswitch. It looked like he was about to cash in his contract when Jay White appeared out of nowhere and hit him with a Bladerunner. This puzzled fans due to Cage's ongoing feud with Hook.
Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation on Fightful Select's Q&A podcast, where he said the feud between Cage and Hook was put on hold since The Patriarch was going to be involved in the World Title picture.
“Yeah, it’s been put on hold for right now because Christian is going towards—at least he was planned on going for a feud with the top title,” Sapp said. [H/T: Ringside News]
A major match for the World Title is reportedly set to take place at AEW Worlds End
Since regaining the AEW World Championship, Jon Moxley has proven himself to be one of the most dangerous men in the company. Despite this, there is no shortage of challengers for his gold. Christian Cage and 'Hangman' Adam Page have already made it clear that they want to win the World Title. Now, there could be one more man added to the mix.
Speaking on the Bryan and Vinny Show, Bryan Alvarez said the plan for Jon Moxley at Worlds End was to have him defend his title in a four-way match against Page, Christian Cage, and Jay White.
“I’ve since been told that, no, actually, it’s going to be a four-way. Now, granted, this could change, so how they’re going to get to a four-way logically, I have no earthly idea. But apparently, the idea is that it will be that four-way at Worlds End.” [H/T: Ringside News]
It will be interesting to see whether Jon Moxley will be able to successfully defend his AEW World Championship if he locks horns with the abovementioned stars.
