A huge update recently emerged on Adam Copeland's AEW return. He has been on a hiatus due to a major injury, working on different filming projects.
The Rated R-Superstar made his shocking debut at last year's WrestleDream pay-per-view. He then proved to be one of the promotion's biggest workhorses by wrestling once every couple of weeks despite being 51. His feud with Christian Cage for the TNT Championship is one of the highlights of his run as he went to capture the title from him.
Adam had a great reign as a champion, but the happiness didn't last long. At the Double or Nothing pay-per-view, he fractured his tibia in an attempt to dive on Malakai Black from the top of a steel cage. He has been out for almost six months. He also had to relinquish the TNT Championship a couple of days after the injury.
According to PWInsider, the Ultimate Opportunist has been medically cleared to wrestle, but the star will not return until he finishes filming Disney's Percy Jackson. The project is seemingly going to wrap up in January 2025.
Tony Khan talks about AEW star Adam Copeland
The former TNT Champion has been absent since May 2024 following the devastating incident. Recently, Tony Khan discussed his absence.
While speaking on Full Gear's post-show media scrum, the AEW President claimed he was missing Adam Copeland as the Hall of Famer is a huge asset to the company.
"Adam Copeland, we've been missing him very very much. He was doing so great for us this year as the TNT Champion. We really miss The Rated-R Superstar very much and I can't wait to hopefully at sometime in the near future get him back. It was really a devastating thing and we're really blessed to have such a great roster in AEW because everybody really stepped up. When you lose somebody so valuable to the team like Adam Copeland, It's always always gonna hurt," he said,
It remains to be seen when Copeland returns to action after he is cleared to wrestle.
