A major could be headed to AEW imminently. He recently became a free agent, Fightful Select has reported.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey is one of the most entertaining acts in all of wrestling. He first made a name for himself in DDT Pro Wrestling but honed his skills during his tenure with TNA Wrestling. He is a former three-time X Division Champion, but it looks like he is ready to move on.

After Mike Bailey dropped his X Division Championship to Moose on the November 7th episode of IMPACT, it was reported that he was headed to AEW. Since then, he has not wrestled for TNA but has competed for other promotions such as GCW, DPW, and Wrestling Revolver. Now, new details have come to light regarding his future.

According to Fightful Select, Mike Bailey is no longer under contract with TNA as of January 1, 2025, making him a free agent. It was also reported that he would be headed to AEW imminently.

Potential AEW signee Mike Bailey previously spoke about TNA's X Division

TNA Wrestling's X Division is known for producing some of the most exciting matches in the company's history. It has also produced some notable stars like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Austin Aries, and so on. One of the stars who made the X Division his own during his time with the company is Mike Bailey. He was a three-time X Division Champion and embodied what the division meant.

During an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Mike Bailey said that watching guys like AJ Styles compete in the X-Division defined the type of wrestler he wanted to be:

"I was sort of watching wrestling for a long time when I saw something like the X-Division. My vision then of who I would be as a professional wrestler became very different, and when I saw the guys that were in the X-Division, like Amazing Red, AJ Styles, Low Ki, Jerry Lynn, is when I was like, 'Oh, this is what I exactly want to do.' And at the time, they were absolutely at the forefront of professional wrestling," Mike Bailey said.

It will be interesting to see if Mike Bailey will be able to bring the same energy over to AEW.
