AEW presented its sixth annual Full Gear this past weekend, and now the momentum is at a maximum ahead of the end of another year for the young promotion. Several stars had a big night at the pay-per-view, including one popular talent who now has a much brighter future. Sources just revealed why their future is so promising and their backstage reactions to one unfortunate Full Gear moment.
The Costco Guys closed AEW's Full Gear Zero Hour pre-show with "Big BOOM!" AJ Befumo defeating QT Marshall. The former indie talent was accompanied to the ring by 12-year-old son Big Justice and 8-year-old friend The Rizzler, who served as guest timekeeper. AEW's Vice President of Show & Creative Coordination was accompanied by some of his students, The Ace of Space Academy. AJ suffered a broken foot during the match, but he was able to finish the match due to his adrenaline.
The American Powerchild, aka Andrew Befumo Jr., announced this week that he and Big Justice, aka Eric Justice Befumo, are All Elite and will be back in action once he recovers. A new report from Fightful Select notes that The Costco Guys' Full Gear appearance was not a one-off, as Tony Khan is high up on them and wants them to continue bringing the boom to All Elite Wrestling.
Sources noted that everyone within AEW was very happy with how Saturday's AJ vs. QT match at Full Gear went. Andrew Befumo Jr. also impressed many people backstage by working through his injury to finish the match.
There's already talk on AEW and The Costco Guys working together in the near future. It was noted that there are tentative plans for some angle, but nothing was official. This is in line with what AJ previously said, confirming that there will be an appearance or two while he waits to get medically cleared.
Big Boom is not interested in the AEW World Championship
"Big BOOM!" AJ of The Costco Guys spent years on the indie wrestling scene before finding viral fame on TikTok and YouTube. AJ finally landed on the big stage as he defeated QT Marshall on All Elite Wrestling's Full Gear pre-show this past Saturday.
AJ appeared with Tony Khan at the Full Gear post-show media scrum, and the AEW President gave him major praise, noting that he has been a breath of positivity. When asked about potentially chasing Jon Moxley for the World Championship, the veteran laughed and said he might not have time for the dedication a championship run would need.
Khan has praised AJ in multiple interviews this month, noting that he has enjoyed having the viral creator around. This was before Andrew Befumo Jr. announced that he and Big Justice were All Elite the following day, which came after a phone call between TK and the veteran indie star.
