Dustin Rhodes is having one of the best years of his professional career. It was recently reported that the veteran's current deal with AEW had expired and that he was currently negotiating. New details about the current ROH World Tag Team Champion's status with the company have come to light.
In recent months, The Natural has been regularly featured on ROH and currently holds both the ROH Tag Team and Six-Man Tag Team Championships. Hence, it was a bit of a surprise when reports emerged that the wrestling legend's contract with Tony Khan's promotion expired at the end of September or early October.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has now reported that he has not heard any update about The Natural's contract but is expected to be at the Hammerstein shows later this year.
"I heard he’s supposed to be at the Hammerstein shows, but I haven’t heard of a contract update as of yet." [H/T Ringside News]
Dustin Rhodes wants to become World Champion
Dustin Rhodes has had a legendary wrestling career. He made a name for himself in WWE as Goldust, where he was one of the most popular stars in the company. Although he was never the top guy, he still won many championships and competed against some of the biggest names in the industry.
However, there has always been one title that The Natural hasn't been able to win, and that's the World Championship. The former WWE star's brother, Cody Rhodes, beat him to it earlier this year when he defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to become the Undisputed WWE Champion.
During a recent interview with WFAA, Dustin revealed that even though he is 55 years old, he wants to become a World Champion since that is the only feather missing from his cap.
"There’s one thing that every wrestler if they don’t want this when they get into the business, they don’t belong in the business—and that’s to become world heavyweight champion. That is the one thing that is missing. I’ve won many, many titles from both companies and all kinds of companies across the world. But winning the world heavyweight title puts a feather in your cap, so to speak. I’m 55. Is it too late? I don’t think so." [H/T: WrestleZone]
It will be interesting to see whether Dustin Rhodes will be able to accomplish his goal of being a World Champion.
