The latest update regarding Dustin Rhodes' AEW contract has just surfaced. It seems that despite being a double champion in ROH, his future with the company is not yet secured.
The Natural has been with the company since its debut show in 2019. He holds the ROH World Tag Team Championship and the promotion's six-man tag team titles. He has also been a major contributor backstage, working with a lot of the talent.
Fightful Select reported last year that Dustin Rhodes' contract would expire this month. As a double champion in ROH, it was believed that he had signed a new deal with the company. However, this was not the case.
Fightful Select has followed up on the matter and found out that as of AEW All Out, he has yet to re-sign with the company, and his contract is still set to expire soon.
Dustin Rhodes has been working with a certain former AEW World Champion
It was recently reported that the AEW veteran has been a major reason for the improvement of a top star. This would be Swerve Strickland.
According to a report from Ringside News, Rhodes has been closely working with Swerve for his matches. It was also mentioned how, internally, the company has seen a drastic improvement in the quality of his in-ring work while working with Dustin.
Strickland has been on a roll over the past year, with the only blemishes to his run coming from the past few weeks. He has lost major matches to Bryan Danielson and Hangman Adam Page at All In and All Out, respectively.
Swerve and Dustin have also clashed in the ring, as they faced off during the Worlds End pay-per-view in December 2023. Rhodes served as the last-minute replacement for Keith Lee, who was initially supposed to be the former AEW World Champion's opponent.
It seems that Dustin Rhodes' status is still up in the air, but with him still playing a major role in ROH and making sporadic appearances in AEW, more info regarding a potential new deal could come soon.
