Over the years, Tony Khan has signed numerous former WWE stars to AEW. Many of them have even held championships. Furthermore, the reigning AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné were once massive names in the Stamford-based company.
Tony Khan is heavily rumored to sign another former WWE star, Matt Cardona. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion is in a feud with ROH World Champion Chris Jericho. The two are scheduled to lock horns at Final Battle 2024 for Jericho's title. Even though the erstwhile Zack Ryder has appeared in All Elite Wrestling several times, he was never given a permanent position. However, it is now speculated that Khan will offer him a full-time deal soon. After all, Ring of Honor is owned by the Jacksonville businessman.
Recently, well-known journalist Dave Meltzer spoke about the aforementioned rumors on Wrestling Observer Radio. According to him, his contract with the company depends on his performance in his ongoing feud.

"I know that there was at least talk of Cardona getting an AEW contract. I don’t know if it’s gonna happen or not [or] if he’s already agreed. I guess we’ll find out, obviously if he beats Jericho. Which I don’t expect to happen but if he does obviously, they won’t do it unless he’s under contract," said Meltzer. (H/T Wrestling News)
Tony Khan comments on the ongoing AEW World Title feud
At the upcoming Worlds End pay-per-view, Jon Moxley is going to defend the AEW World Championship against Orange Cassidy, "Hangman" Adam Page, and Jay White in a four-way match. In a recent conversation with Sports Guys Talking Wrestling, Tony Khan revealed that he is immensely excited to see this showdown.
"I’m really excited about having the top stars in AEW, all gunning for the championship. I don’t think they’re all aligned with each other, but they’re all aligned in that they want to take the championship from Jon Moxley, and we saw the fans chanting ‘AEW’ as Hangman Page, Jay White, and Orange Cassidy teed off on the champion. I thought that was awesome," said Khan. (H/T 411 Mania)
Jon Moxley won the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream earlier this year.
