Former AEW World Champion MJF has been on a hiatus since All Out pay-per-view. Apart from pro wrestling, he also pursued a career in Hollywood. In 2023, he worked in the Iron Claw movie, which is based on the legendary Von Erichs family. Friedman is taking time off from AEW to shoot another movie and might return soon to the promotion.
The former American Champion has been one of All Elite Wrestling's cornerstones. Last year, he held the AEW World Championship. Due to injuries to other top stars, he had to carry the company on his own. He lost the title at Worlds End on December 30 and was on a five-month hiatus.
MJF returned at Double or Nothing and had a blockbuster feud with Will Ospreay for a couple of months. He then had his last match against Daniel Garcia at All Out pay-per-view. It was then reported that Maxwell would be on a hiatus as he was being cast in the film Happy Gilmore 2, which features Adam Sandler.
As per Fightful, Happy Gilmore 2 wrapped up production in the last week of September after filming for the entire month. It is also noted that MJF may return to AEW much earlier than expected.

WCW veteran Konnan praises MJF
The former American Champion has been known for his heel work in the Jacksonville-based promotion. While speaking on Keeping It 100 OFFICIAL, Konnan deemed Friedman the 'most entertaining guy' in the company's locker room.
"Bro, the numbers have proven, we actually put the numbers on the screen every week and he's always the highest-rated segment or 90 percent of the time, right? So, you can't say he's not a draw. He's the most entertaining guy on that roster," he said.
It will be interesting to see if Maxwell shows up at WrestleDream pay-per-view this Saturday.
