AEW stars Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, together known as The Lucha Bros, are expected to leave Tony Khan's promotion once their contracts expire in the next few months. A new update has revealed how WWE is in play for the real-life brothers.

Penta and Fenix have been with AEW since 2019 and are considered foundational talents in the company's tag team division. The two are former AEW World Tag Team and World Trios Champions, and Rey has also held the International Championship. However, their time in the Jacksonville-based promotion seems to be almost up.

The Lucha Bros' contracts are reportedly nearing expiration, and according to Fightful Select, several insiders close to the brothers have claimed that talks with WWE have already taken place. Fightful's report reveals that the Stamford-based company has a preliminary offer on the table comparable to All Elite Wrestling's offer.

The Lucha Bros have reportedly delayed contract negotiations with AEW

Many AEW fans are laying the blame for the potential departures of Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix on company president Tony Khan. However, according to a recent report, All Elite Wrestling has been attempting to re-sign the tag team for some time.

Fightful noted that The Lucha Bros have delayed signing new deals with the Jacksonville-based promotion, and it recently became clear that the two were looking to hit free agency.

It's said that Penta and Fenix are looking for a package deal, potentially with WWE, and that they aren't interested in taking the traditional route through NXT. The two recently filed trademarks for their names, as well as terms like 'AN1MO' and 'King Fuego.'

It seems that the two are indeed set to sign with WWE in the near future, but both remain under contract with AEW for now. Whether they will be able to bypass NXT and debut on the main roster remains to be seen.
