A new report has provided more details on former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley's AEW debut. Lashley showed up on this week's Dynamite.
After weeks of rumors, Bobby Lashley made his highly anticipated AEW debut on Fright Night Dynamite. He appeared after Swerve Strickland defeated Shelton Benjamin in the main event of the show. The All Mighty attacked Strickland following a brief confrontation. Meanwhile, MVP took out Prince Nana.
Lashley applied the Hurt Lock on Strickland, forcing him to pass out. While the former WWE Champion's arrival created much buzz, the company seemingly had a different plan for his debut. According to a new report by Fightful Select, there were discussions of Lashley making his first appearance for the company in early October, but the idea didn't materialize.
The report also suggested that Lashley was supposed to debut at the 2024 WrestleDream pay-per-view. However, his arrival was delayed as the show ended with Bryan Danielson being choked out in the ring by Jon Moxley and his faction. The event took place in Danielson's home state of Washington. Hence, the company seemingly wanted to focus on The American Dragon's angle.
The report further indicated that Lashley signed with All Elite Wrestling in September 2024, even before MVP made his debut on Dynamite: Grand Slam.
Bobby Lashley shares his thoughts on Tony Khan
Before making his AEW debut on Dynamite this week, Bobby Lashley heaped praise on Tony Khan. On The Lame Guys podcast, Lashley recently said the following about Khan:
"What Tony Khan is doing (...) I'm still friends with MVP, and I talked with him about going there. I said, 'How is it over there?' The one thing people say when they are there is, 'Tony Khan is a really good dude.' He is genuinely saying to people over there, 'You deserve to still carry on.'"
Lashley looks set to feud with Swerve Strickland in the coming months. Only time will tell when Khan will book The All Mighty in a match against The Realest.
