Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported that a former WWE Superstar has departed AEW. He said that people in the company believe the same.
Former WWE NXT Champion Malakai Black was last seen at the AEW Full Gear 2024 pay-per-view. He competed alongside his partner, Brody King, in a Four-way tag team match against Private Party, The Acclaimed, and The Outrunners for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. After The Kings of The Black Throne's defeat, Malakai has not been seen on TV.
Speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that the people in Tony Khan's promotion believe that Malakai Black ''is gone'' from the company. Alvarez reported the following regarding Black's status:
"If Malakai gets mad, because he got mad last time, I just want him to know that he needs to get mad at the people in the back because the people in the back believe he is gone. For whatever that’s worth." [H/T: Cultaholic Wrestling]

Fans previously thought that the Dutch professional wrestler would leave the company after he hugged Adam Cole following their match on Dynamite in November 2024. However, he cleared the air on social media and competed in several matches in the weeks that followed.
WWE legend wants a dream match against the AEW star
WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam recently expressed his desire to have a match against AEW star Malakai Black. Speaking on his 1 of a Kind podcast, RVD said he likes Black's style and it will be awesome to work with the 39-year-old.
“Yeah, he is [awesome]. I really like that dude’s style and his vibe. I like the way that he stands out as being different. I’m a big fan of that, so I don’t know. If I didn’t know any better, I would think RVD might have inspired him at one point. So proud of him without even knowing him. It’d be awesome to work with him,” he said.
Only time will tell what 2025 has in store for Malakai Black amid rumors of his departure from the Jacksonville-based company.
