Popular star "not allowed" to compete at AEW Forbidden Door 2024; reason disclosed - Reports

According to recent reports, a top AEW star is not allowed to wrestle at the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV event. The talent in question is none other than Rush.

Former AEW World Champion MJF made his surprising return to the company at last month's Double or Nothing PPV. MJF's first feud back was against Rush and the rivalry culminated at last night's Dynamite where Friedman successfully defeated the Mexican star. Many were surprised to see the match happen at Dynamite instead of the Forbidden Door PPV on June 30th.

After MJF defeated Rush, he was challenged by CMLL star Hechicero. The match was made official for the Forbidden Door PPV by Tony Khan after the show ended. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided the possible reason why MJF versus Rush took place on Dynamite instead of Forbidden Door:

"RUSH vs. MJF was commercial free because that match couldn’t air on PPV. RUSH is not allowed on Forbidden Door. CMLL would not be happy with RUSH on that show.” H/T:[RingsideNews]

Bully Ray advises Tony Khan to keep pushing Rush in AEW

MJF and Rush wrestled a fast-paced match last night on AEW Dynamite. The Salt of the Earth came out on top and seemingly ended their heated rivalry. After the match, Rush was approached by Don Callis who spoke to him in Spanish. The segment was a tease of a potential alliance between Rush and The Don Callis Family.

Speaking on the Busted Open Podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray who is a huge supporter of Rush, advised Tony Khan to keep booking Rush and claimed that the Mexican star could become a great heel in the company:

"I know Don Callis later on in the show approached a very, very angry Rush in the back. But I think he said to him in Spanish, 'Eh, you're welcome in my house anytime,' or basically, 'My house is your house'. Rush and Don Callis could be a deadly combination. I hope AEW and Tony Khan doesn't give up on Rush too quick. There is money in this guy as a credible killer heel. You saw it and you heard it tonight." [5:36 - 6:09]

The Don Callis Family currently has top stars like Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, Trent Berretta, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Konosuke Takeshita. It will be interesting to see if Rush joins the faction in the future.
