AEW stacked the ROH Final Battle card with talents like Matt Cardona, Nigel McGuinness, Chris Jericho, and more. A recent report has unveiled how the promotion reached out to Danhausen for his return at the PPV. The face-painted star reportedly refused to work dates for All Elite Wrestling.
At the ROH Final Battle PPV event, Danhausen made his shocking return during the match between Mansoor and Atlantis Jr. The 34-year-old star evened the odds as he took out Mason Madden and cursed him after Atlantis Jr.'s victory over Mansoor. The crowd was delighted to see Danhausen, who has proven to be a fan favorite in the past several years.
In a recent report by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, it was revealed that AEW reached out to Danhausen a day before the ROH Final Battle PPV. It was also noted that the promotion was seemingly surprised by the Very Nice Very Evil star taking independent bookings on Saturdays after he initially allegedly refused to work for the promotion due to family time.
However, the report stated that Danhausen's return was pretty straightforward, as the Tony Khan-led company phoned him on the eve of the show and told the star about its plans involving him for the PPV.

"Yeah, they called him the day before the show, and they told him to come do the show. He said, 'Okay, it's my job, so I'll come do the show.' That's pretty much it. He's been very transparent the whole time it's not him refusing to work or anything. It was a situation definitely where he told them he had some family stuff; wouldn't be able to work as many Saturdays,'' the report stated.
The report added:
"And then he started to work Saturday indy dates, and AEW looked at it and said, 'Well, what the hell's going on here?' He would probably be the first to tell you, 'Yeah, that probably could have been communicated better, but he's also a guy that's [sic] like, 'They can just tell me to come to work; it's my job. And they did that."' [H/T: Cultaholic]
Matt Hardy comments on AEW's booking of Danhausen
In a recent edition of his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the WWE veteran spoke about Danhausen and how the latter is a great entertainer.
Matt Hardy noted that All Elite Wrestling could have booked the 34-year-old in several directions to get him over, questioning why the promotion hasn't capitalized on his potential yet.
"Danhausen's a hustler too, man. He's a great entertainer. With Danhausen, there are so many different avenues you can take to put Danhausen on your TV program and get him over, and make him sell tons of merchandise, and make him a compelling part of your TV program. I don't know why they decided not to do that. Once again, I don't know the ins and outs of all the details," he said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
We will have to wait and see if AEW CEO Tony Khan books Danhausen for more appearances in ROH.
