Speculation on AEW going the RAW way and pushing a 3-hour show - Reports

With the success that AEW Dynamite has had since it debuted in 2019, could All Elite Wrestling's flagship show follow in the footsteps of WWE RAW and become a three-hour program?

RAW has been a three-hour show since its 1000th episode in July 2012, a move that has divided fans over the years. Some believe that the show is too long, meanwhile, others see it as a way to get more talent on WWE's longest-running show.

At the end of the day, the show is still three hours long due to the amount of revenue WWE gets from having the extra hour on the USA Network and doesn't look like changing any time soon.

But could the same change be coming for AEW Dynamite? Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that not only would it be best for business, but it could also signal the end of Rampage on Friday nights:

“From a business standpoint, from an AEW standpoint and from a WBD standpoint even more, a third hour on Wednesday is a lot more valuable than a one hour show on Friday. So from both sides, looking at this from a business standpoint and if you want to have five hours, drop the Friday because the Friday is just not—it’s a C show and a third hour on Wednesday’s going to greatly greatly outdraw that one hour on Friday.” [9:04-9:40]

An extra hour to Dynamite might not be the only change coming to AEW's schedule

Not only could there soon be an extra hour of Dynamite every week, but there could also be some more pay-per-views to look forward to!

According to Fightful Select, talks between All Elite Wrestling and Warner Bros. Discovery have been going well regarding a new TV deal, but WBD are interested in expanding the company's limited pay-per-view schedule.

At the time of writing, All Elite Wrestling has five pay-per-views every year, with an extra three PPVs that come from the Ring of Honor brand. But given the success of all of AEW's PPVs to date, it's no surprise that WBD would want more high-quality wrestling associated with their name.
