According to a new report, Tony Khan recently offered former WWE United States Champion Matt Cardona an AEW contract. Cardona occasionally performs for All Elite Wrestling.
Popular for his stint in WWE as Zack Ryder, the 39-year-old star has come a long way from being a mid-card talent in the global juggernaut to a top star on the indies. Cardona's popularity on the independent wrestling scene has skyrocketed over the years and earned him the Indy God moniker.
Cardona recently started a new title feud with ROH World Champion Chris Jericho. Given the rivalry, fans hoped that he would soon officially join the All Wrestling Elite roster.
Wrestling Observer mentioned in its latest report that Tony Khan had offered Cardona a contract. But there was no news on whether the former WWE star took up the offer.

For those unaware, Cardona has wrestled for AEW multiple times in the past. However, he was seemingly not offered a full-time contract back then despite being a free agent.
AEW's Chris Jericho attacked Matt Cardona
Matt Cardona has challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship. The two stars are set for a title showdown at ROH Final Battle at the Hammerstein Ballroom. But before their match, The Demo God attacked his upcoming challenger at a recent event.
A few days ago, Jericho sneaked into a GCW event and ambushed Cardona in the middle of the ring. Later, Y2J boasted about the attack and shared a clip of the segment on his Instagram account.
"Hi @themattcardona 👋🌳 you didn’t think that the King of New York would pop up in Los Angeles at your @gamechangerwrestling Indy Event, did you? You made a big mistake forgetting who you’re dealing with……I always get my man! See you at #rohfinalbattle. @aew @ringofhonor," Jericho posted.
Matt Cardona wasn't happy with what transpired and seemingly took the attack as a huge insult. He promised to dethrone the ROH World Champion at the upcoming event.
