Swerve Strickland suffered a major loss at last night's AEW All Out PPV. Recent reports have revealed some information on Strickland's status for the coming weeks.
Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland went to war in a Lights Out Unsanctioned Steel Cage match at AEW All Out 2024. The match was filled with brutality and culminated with Hangman Page injecting a needle in Swerve's mouth and slamming a chair on his skull to pick up the victory via knockout.
In a recent report by Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that the ending of the brutal matchup was done chiefly to write Swerve Strickland off television for some time. Swerve had recently signed a new contract to extend his time with the Jacksonville-based promotion on AEW TV.
"I heard a long time ago that Swerve was going to sign the contract and get some time off, and this was the angle." [H/T - WOR]

Konnan believes WWE would have made AEW's Swerve Strickland a top star if he chose to return
Swerve Strickland had an interesting run in the WWE. He became the NXT North American Champion before moving up to the main roster alongside his Hit Row faction. However, Swerve was shortly released by the promotion which shocked many.
In a recent edition of his Keepin'It 100 podcast, WCW veteran Konnan addressed the recent contract news of Swerve Strickland with AEW. He stated that Swerve only stayed with the company due to money and claimed that WWE would have made him a big star.
"Why Swerve would stay there unless he's thinking, 'Let me get paid for the next five years and be a very rich man. And in five years, you know, if they don't bury me, which they probably won't, I'll still be viable, and I could go over there!' I would've gone there right now because they [WWE] probably would've made him a big star," he added. [3:20-3:42]
