The news of Shane McMahon and AEW President Tony Khan having a secret meeting recently has taken the pro wrestling world by storm. Now, a new report has shed light on WWE's internal reaction to the unexpected development.
Since the last couple of months, the chatter surrounding Shane McMahon possibly heading to AEW has been the talk of the town. It all started when Jim Ross spoke about the possibility of seeing McMahon join All Elite Wrestling.
Later, Mercedes Mone also happened to bump into the 54-year-old veteran at the airport after Forbidden Door 2024, with rumors indicating they spoke about AEW. However, it all erupted when a picture of Shane-O-Mac and Tony Khan in a meeting behind closed doors popped up on the internet and quickly went viral.
WrestleVotes has now revealed the reaction of an unnamed long-time WWE employee to the news. It was noted that McMahon meeting Khan wasn't surprising, as he was considered to be a 'smart" businessman.
Dutch Mantell is not excited about potentially seeing Shane McMahon in AEW
A few weeks back on his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the WWE veteran addressed Shane McMahon possibly heading to All Elite Wrestling. Mantell wasn't keen on seeing Shane-O-Mac in the company, saying even if he were to sign with AEW, his momentum would fizzle out in no time.
"I don't see Shane going there and if he does go there without trying to do any kind of an agreement with WWE, I'll give it three months and it'll die the death of the dog," Mantell predicted.
With All In 2024 just a few weeks away, it remains to be seen whether Tony Khan and McMahon could strike a deal to have him join the company and appear at the pay-per-view. There's little doubt the mere sight of the WWE legend at Wembley Stadium would lead to the crowd erupting in joy.
