WWE Superstar Sheamus and former AEW TNT Champion, Adam Copeland (fka Edge) reportedly share a wholesome friendship. The latter left the Stamford-based company last year and debuted in Tony Khan's promotion in October 2023. Interestingly, there is a strong possibility that Sheamus will also leave his current employer this year.
Sheamus signed a five-year contract with the Triple H-led promotion in 2019, which will expire this year. Ever since AEW's inception, they have emerged as WWE's biggest and most legitimate rival in ages. Some of their prized stars who previously wrestled in the Stamford-based company are now some of the biggest names in the business. A few of them are Samoa Joe, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Saraya, Malakai Black, and more.
Copeland has also had a pleasant run in AEW, winning the TNT Championship twice. Tony Khan has done a satisfactory job in booking names he signed from WWE. This should assure Sheamus that if he joins the company, his career could reach new heights. Furthermore, he can even join forces with his friend, Edge, who is currently sidelined due to injury.
Edge's last match in WWE was against Sheamus on SmackDown.
After visiting AEW star Adam Copeland's house, Sheamus was motivated to do better
Sheamus suffered a serious injury at WrestleMania 35 in his Fatal Four-Way tag team match. On the road to recovery, he visited Copeland's house and saw the Intercontinental Title on display. This sparked a fire within him and he was motivated to become the best version of himself.
"I saw the Intercontinental Title, and I was like, 'I can't give up now. I'm so close to getting that final piece of the puzzle.' That motivated me to come back in the best shape possible," he said. [H/T CBS Sports]
The 46-year-old Sheamus is a former World Heavyweight Champion and a WWE Champion.
