Chris Jericho has had a dream career in multiple promotions around the world. He is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling. However, The Ocho was a household name before joining the company. Tony Khan appears to have immense faith in him and does not mind booking him to win gold.
The world of professional wrestling will truly miss Jericho after the 54-year-old retires. He will leave with a legacy of success, hard work, professionalism, and innovation. However, like every human, the veteran has flaws. Over the years, his reputation has been tarnished due to his various actions, which could be known as his sins.
Here are the 7 Sins of Chris Jericho.

#7. Envy: By regularly overshadowing young talent
For professional wrestling to have a bright future, veterans need to help build new stars. They usually do this by putting over young talents and losing to them in matches. However, Jericho hardly does that.
For most of his AEW career, The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla has stayed under the limelight in place of his young and stablemates. This happened when he led The Inner Circle, The Jericho Appreciation Society, and now again, in The Learning Tree. It appears like the 54-year-old is envious of younger talent and does not like being overshadowed.
#6. Greed: Chris Jericho signed with AEW
Several years back, before AEW existed, Chris Jericho claimed he'd never wrestle for any other American wrestling promotion apart from WWE out of respect for Vince McMahon. Speaking to Inside The Ropes in 2018, the veteran said:
"It's not a matter of just going out and doing indies – and like I said – I always felt like the unwritten rule is I don't want to go into the states. I felt like that would be a real slap in the face of Vince [McMahon]."
However, the Demo God has seemingly failed to stick to his principles. Due to his greed for a big paycheck and glory, he signed for AEW in 2019 and is reportedly among the highest-paid stars on the roster.
#5. Pride: His extravagant gimmicks
Chris Jericho has reinvented himself numerous times. Fans and veterans believe he is one of the most innovative names in the modern day and age. However, most of his gimmicks have been extravagant.
It can be said that because of his pride, he creates new, over-the-top gimmicks to stay relevant in the current wrestling landscape. This has even led to "please retire" chants directed towards him in AEW.
#4. Lust: misconduct allegations
In early 2024, reports of misconduct allegations emerged against the reigning ROH World Champion. Former AEW talent Kylie Rae seemingly showed support for these claims.
Even though none of these accusations have been proven, many believe it is true. Lust is one of the most dangerous sins, and Jericho is probably guilty of it.
#3. Gluttony: He unnecessarily wins titles
The purpose of having a title run is to elevate the stardom of a wrestler. They are held mainly by young talents or megastars. Not everyone needs them, especially veterans, whose duty is to give back to the business.
Interestingly, Jericho is still having championship runs in his 50s. He regularly features in title matches and is the reigning ROH World Champion. This certainly showcases his gluttonous side.
#2. Sloth: long feuds due to lazy booking
In the last few years, fans have noticed that Chris Jericho's rivalries have lasted months. There are rematches after rematches, making him and his segments redundant.
The Ocho must stop channeling his sloth side and quickly get over the feuds. He used to do this in the past, turning him into a massive draw. He and Tony Khan must work together to fix this issue.
#1. Wrath: He got furious at Shane McMahon
At the 2016 WWE Survivor Series, Team SmackDown defeated Team RAW. Shane McMahon was on the blue brand's team, and Chris Jericho was on the red brand's side. During this showdown, the former SmackDown commissioner reportedly stiffed Jericho during the bout.
Jericho was enraged by McMahon's actions, and he told him to calm down. His frustration was visible, and he spoke of this incident occasionally in interviews.
