The Hurt Syndicate to ignore 36-year-old AEW star's protests and get involved in feud? Chances explored

The Hurt Syndicate has been looking to expand their group since the arrival of MVP at AEW Grand Slam earlier this year. The stable has reached out to a number of talents backstage, and they have all shown varied responses to the offer. However, The Franchise Playa, along with Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley, could interfere in the business of one of their top prospects and help him win his upcoming blockbuster rematch.

It was announced some time ago that this week's episode of AEW Collision, set to emanate from the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom, will present a massive Continental Classic 2024 Gold League bout between Will Ospreay and Ricochet. The two iconic rivals and high-flyers are tied at six points apiece in their block at present.

The Highlight of The Night recently took to social media to inform Ospreay of his resolve to pick up three more points by beating him this Saturday, and the latter responded by stating his desire to prevent a draw between them. Notably, The Aerial Assassin defended his AEW International Title against Ricochet on the Five-Year Anniversary special of Dynamite, but the bout ended in a no contest after an intereference by Konosuke Takeshita.

Anticipation regarding Ospreay's imminent rematch with Ricochet is undoubtedly quite high, especially in light of The Human Highlight Reel winning his last C2 bout against Brody King in controversial fashion - particularly since he revealed that he had held onto MVP's business card, which he had received several weeks earlier.

While Ricochet had made it clear to the faction that he wanted to stand out on his own in AEW, The Hurt Syndicate might take matters into their own hands by interfering in the 36-year-old star's upcoming match with Will Ospreay on Christmas Collision, and possibly even help him win it. Alternatively, Ricochet could use unfair or illegal measures to secure the victory instead of relying on outside assistance, and officially align with his fellow former WWE colleagues afterwards.

A Hurt Syndicate member wants AEW's Ricochet to join the faction

While Ricochet has been unclear so far as to whether or not he will link up with The Hurt Syndicate, AEW's new hot signee Bobby Lashley himself showered heavy praise on The One and Only and approved of him as an addition to his faction. Appearing on The Lame Guys podcast last month, The All Mighty stated:

“We’re going to put an ad on Indeed, and we’re going to let people… I don’t know, I love Ricochet. I think everybody loves Ricochet. If you see that guy in the ring, he’s just ridiculous. I think Ricochet would be a great option. I don’t know if he’s going to be that person, though, because there’s another one over there,” he said. [H/T - WrestleZone]

Besides Ricochet, Lashley's stable-mate Shelton Benjamin will also be in action on Christmas Collision, taking on TNT Champion Daniel Garcia for the first time ever.
