AEW President Tony Khan could refrain two AEW stars from going to WWE despite their contracts ending soon. The stars being discussed are Lucha Bros.
Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have been making headlines for the past few weeks. They have been with AEW since 2019 and are former AEW World Tag Team Champions. Despite being a popular duo, the stars didn't get much exposure in the promotion. Also, they haven't been involved in significant feuds for several months.
According to several reports, the Lucha Bros are heading to AEW when their contract expires. Penta's contract is rumored to expire sometime around September, but no update on Rey has been given yet. As per recent reports, the latter's contract could be extended, given he was absent from the company due to injury.
Meanwhile, Tony Khan recently accused WWE of contract tampering as he believes the promotion has contracted multiple stars still under AEW contract. TK could prevent or at least delay the Lucha Bros going to the global sports entertainment juggernaut. If Tony decides to stop Rey Fenix by extending his contract, WWE's alleged program of debuting the stars as a tag team could fail, toppling the duo's arrival in the Stamford-based promotion.
