AEW President, Tony Khan might have missed out on a huge signing of one of the hottest free agents in the wrestling industry. The star recently showed up on another major promotion as well.
The star in question is the popular female wrestler, Tessa Blanchard. The 29-year-old star has been on the pro wrestling scene for over a decade now. She gained prominence during her time in Impact Wrestling/TNA from 2018 to 2020. She also performed in WWE in 2017.
Meanwhile, Blanchard has officially signed with TNA and showed up on the promotion recently. All Elite Wrestling missed a big chance to sign Tessa Blanchard for a few reasons:
Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?
Tessa Blanchard's TNA return closed doors for a huge AEW run
During her last run in TNA/Impact Wrestling from 2018 to 2020, Tessa Blanchard was one of the most talked about yet polarising stars in women's wrestling. AEW could have signed Blanchard for a potential big run.
However, with Blanchard returning to TNA, the doors on a potential AEW run for Tessa have been closed for a few more years.
Tessa Blanchard could've been a game-changer for AEW's women's division
AEW has been advertising that its women's division is the best in the world, with the addition of Mercedes Mone and some established stars such as Toni Storm. Therefore, the signing of Tessa Blanchard could've boosted the women's division to new heights.
Blanchard could also have been a game changer for Tony Khan's promotion as she was one of the reasons for TNA's resurgence during its dark times from 2018 to 2020. Tessa has the look and talent of a star and she could've been a great addition to All Elite Wrestling's women's division.
Not signing a top free agent could backfire for Tony Khan
Ever since the inception of AEW in 2019, Tony Khan has rarely missed out on signing the top free agents in the pro wrestling industry. However, Khan seemingly missed out on a big signing in Tessa Blanchard.
The AEW President had the chance to sign Blanchard while she was performing in its partner promotion, CMLL. However, Khan missed the chance as there are not many top free agents in the pro wrestling scenario.
Now, Tessa Blanchard has returned to TNA and only time will tell what the future has in store for the 29-year-old star.
