Tony Khan has started AEW from the ground up and has turned it into a company that is big enough to take on WWE in its own right. That has come with a lot of patience and choosing the right personnel.
Over the last five years, ever since the first Dynamite episode, a lot of wrestlers have been put to good use by the AEW President. Some feel that many names that weren't really given a chance to shine in WWE were given their big breaks in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
The likes of Claudio Castagnoli come to mind instantly to many. However, in the midst of all those success stories, there have also been some instances where Tony Khan has seemingly dropped the ball when it comes to propping up the right names.
That has not happened often but there is one glaring case of how AEW has seemingly dropped the ball and supposedly given up on him. This particular individual was even a TNT Champion before.

Tony Khan seems to have given up on Wardlow
The case of Wardlow is an interesting one. He was initially pushed as a silent enforcer, a la Solo Sikoa. He was by the side of MJF first and then went on to have great matches with him and also with the likes of CM Punk. He was then taken out for a long time but eventually made his return to AEW.
He then aligned himself with Adam Cole and the Undisputed Kingdom and was on hand to take out MJF at the end of the Worlds End Pay-Per-View. But things have not gone according to plan since then.
Adam Cole missed out even mentioning Wardlow
Adam Cole recently made his return at WrestleDream and went after MJF. It looks like the two of them will be involved in a long-term program now. Cole also cut a promo on Dynamite where he touched on his brothers from the Undisputed Kingdom.
However, while doing that, he mentioned everyone from Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Kannellis but he completely missed out on mentioning Wardlow. This, according to fans, just went on to show how Tony Khan may have seemingly given up on the 266 lb star.
What next for Wardlow?
With him being omitted from Adam Cole’s promo, it is clear that he is not a part of the Undisputed Kingdom anymore. So the next big question is what is next for the former TNT Champion.
With all the major stars now involved in feuds that seem locked in, there is little room for him to make a splash. A feud with someone like Ricochet and Will Ospreay will help all parties involved and finally push Wardlow into the limelight. Tony Khan might want to look into it if Wardlow has to be taken seriously by the loyal AEW fans.
