With AJ Styles and Seth Rollins slated to go up against each other for the World Heavyweight Championship at the WWE Night of Champions, fans are seemingly split between who should be the one to win. However, a major free agent could throw a wrench in AJ's plans, leading to his defeat.
The free agent in question is Kota Ibushi. Considered one of the most talented stars ever to set foot in NJPW, Ibushi barely needs an introduction. His free agent status at the moment has led to much speculation about his future, with fans arguing whether he would be a better fit in AEW or WWE.
While Ibushi has talked about joining Tony Khan's roster, he has also expressed interest in joining WWE. Furthermore, he has also explained that the Stamford-based promotion needs only to agree with some of his conditions to bring him in.

The veteran star also has a history with AJ Styles, having fought each other in an epic match at the NJPW: Invasion Attack in 2015. The bout was a spectacular showcase of talent, and it sold out the Sumo Hall in Tokyo.
If Kota Ibushi does enter the fray, an entry at the Night of Champions would set him against AJ Styles perfectly. Furthermore, this would also provide a good reason for Styles to suffer defeat at the hands of Seth Rollins since the two seem to be quite evenly matched.

The Phenomenal One apparently already has plans for his retirement match, including a potential opponent.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes, Styles stated that he had plans for a retirement match in the Stamford-based promotion.
"I've got one in mind, the way I'd like to retire. Will it happen? I don't know. I don't know exactly who it would be. I got in my mind who it should be, but we'll see what happens." [From 13:58 to 14:07]
As AJ Styles seems to be in great shape for now, fans will have to stay tuned to see when he will eventually decide to hang up his boots.
