AEW commentator Jim Ross recently stated a member of the Jon Moxley-led Death Riders needs some character growth for him to settle into a defined role. The star being discussed is none other than Wheeler Yuta.
The 28-year-old star has been performing in the Jacksonville-based promotion since 2021. He was part of the Best Friends stable for a couple of years before he joined BCC. Currently, he is part of the Death Riders, who seemingly don't have the best intentions in mind as they look to take over the AEW locker room.
Wheeler Yuta joined the AEW World Champion's Death Riders at WrestleDream. While he has been a crucial part of the faction, Yuta has been put to the test by The Puryevor of Violence multiple times. The Death Riders have been using the young star to weaken Jon Moxley's next challenger, Orange Cassidy as The Freshly Squeezed and Wheeler Yuta are former friends.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross claimed that he would love to see the character of the former ROH Pure Champion evolve and build on his strengths as he hasn't shown his true potential yet as a heel.

"I'd like to see us clearly define Wheeler Yuta's role and to let him be that heel that he can be. He can be that hell of a chicken s*** heel. He's not gonna overpower anybody but he can beat anybody. I like his presence and his contributions," he said. (10:28 - 10:49)
Jim Ross claims Marina Shafir is the 'key element' to Death Riders
Marina Shafir has been accompanying Jon Moxley since August 2024 as the latter is on a mission to discipline the roster. She is seen as an almost untouchable force and has manhandled multiple men since joining the faction.
While speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross said that The Problem is a significant factor in the Death Riders.
"Marina is a key element to that whole package. I'm not saying she's the key element, but she is a significant contributor, and a key - an element, an important element to that whole unit," he said.
It will be interesting to see if the fans will see more changes in Wheeler Yuta's character as he grows in his role as a heel in the future.
