After being integral to AEW's growth and development over the past five years, Penta has finally joined the WWE roster. However, many wrestling fans have expressed disappointment that the fearless luchador is not accompanied by his brother, Rey Fenix, in the sports entertainment juggernaut because the latter is still signed with the Tony Khan-led company.

As is traditionally the case with numerous Mexican wrestlers, not much reliable information is available regarding the personal lives of the Lucha Brothers. However, the duo revealed in past interviews that they had supposedly begun their pro-wrestling training on the same day. Fenix and Penta wrestled prolifically in the Mexican independent scene and established their names further through their performances in AAA.

Over the years, The Lucha Bros competed against each other as rivals and together as a tag team across several promotions, including Defiant Wrestling, AAW Pro, Lucha Underground, MLW, and IMPACT, to name a few. In 2019, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix signed with AEW. They went on to have a successful run in the promotion, holding the AEW World Tag Team Championship together and even enjoying a stint as World Trios Champions along with PAC. Fenix personally also tasted singles gold with a brief reign as the promotion's International Champion.

The Lucha Brothers were a lynchpin in the All Elite tag and trios division while regularly showing up as singles stars. However, last year, reports emerged suggesting that the siblings were planning to move to WWE. They supposedly refused to re-sign with All Elite Wrestling, and as a consequence, Penta became a free agent in late 2024. Unfortunately for Fenix, AEW reportedly added injury time to his deal, extending his contract for almost a year and preventing him from debuting in WWE alongside Penta.

Shortly afterward, The Man of A Thousand Lives posted a series of since-deleted tweets seemingly voicing his issues with All Elite Wrestling, suggesting mistreatment by the promotion, and even claiming that the company had ignored him for months when he needed a doctor.

From the looks of things, Rey Fenix will likely leave AEW after his contract expires and possibly join Penta in WWE.

When did Rey Fenix last wrestle in AEW?

Rey Fenix remains absent from television amidst the controversy relating to his status in All Elite Wrestling. The 34-year-old was last seen in an AEW ring in a victorious effort against Tony Nese on Collision in July last year.

On the other hand, Penta successfully began his WWE career by winning his debut match on RAW against Chad Gable.
