To the surprise of many, even before the start of AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door III tonight, Vince McMahon was trending on X/Twitter despite never having been affiliated with All Elite Wrestling in any manner. How did this happen?
Mr. McMahon is the former Chairman of WWE, which is the biggest rival of AEW at this point. There has been no reason for the two parties to cross paths directly yet.
During the Zero-Hour pre-show ahead of Forbidden Door tonight, Carlos Cabrera, who is signed with AEW as part of the Spanish announce team, was seen in a backstage video where he promoted the trios match at the pre-show featuring several top luchadors in the industry, including the Lucha Brothers, Mistico, and Titan.
Several fans noticed that he looked very similar to Vince McMahon at first glance, and thus his name began to trend. Coincidentally, Cabrera had also worked for WWE for almost three decades as part of the Spanish commentary team, and hosted some shows in Spanish.
Along with names and keywords associated with AEW, Vince McMahon's name hilariously went trending on the internet as can be seen from a screenshot from X/Twitter below.

Vince McMahon's son has been recently linked to AEW
Shane McMahon has been a surprise name that has been associated with All Elite Wrestling recently after some reports hinted at his joining AEW.
The topic was brought up by Jim Ross and his co-host Conrad Thompson. They believed that in the end, it would be up to whether he and Tony Khan could come up with something. Thompson also claimed that Shane had reached out to several AEW stars about a move.
Recent reports revealed that while Tony Khan had never spoken to Shane O'Mac, he revealed that he was indeed open to Shane joining AEW and that they could talk about it.
Fightful Select had also reported on this, saying that there has been no talk about it from the promotion's side. They also mentioned how Shane did not seem opposed to the idea. It is also important to note that he is no longer under contract with WWE.
It remains to be seen whether a concrete deal between both sides happens, and in what capacity Shane will enter the company, if he ever does.
