Geelong Cats star midfielder Patrick Dangerfield has received a one-match suspension following an incident involving Sam Walsh during a match against the Carlton Blues on Friday, June 21.

Dangerfield was suspended for a dangerous tackle in which Walsh's head hit the turf, making for careless conduct, high contact, and medium impact. However, Dangerfield is determined to overturn the decision and is set to challenge it ahead of Geelong's next match.

Patrick Dangerfield spoke about the incident following his suspension, stating that his legal team would move forward and see how things work for them. He said (via AFL.com):

"It is probably one more for the interpretation of how lawyers see these things. I'm not going to get into a slanging match over how things are adjudicated at the moment."

It was not a good day for the Geelong Cats. Not only was their player suspended from the upcoming match, but they also lost the match against Carlton.

Geelong Cats' Patrick Dangerfield returned after an injury for a match against Carlton

Patrick Dangerfield has been on leave since Round 7 of the 2024 AFL season. He suffered an injury and was forced out until his return for a match against the Carlton Blues in Round 15. However, he was suspended again, keeping him out of the upcoming matches. During his match against the Blues, Dangerfield made 17 disposals and four clearances, but the club struggled to win against Carlton.

The Geelong Cats have been playing fairly well this season. With eight victories, they currently sit at number seven in the standings. Meanwhile, the Carlton Blues secured the second spot, just behind the Sydney Swans. Moving ahead, Geelong will face the Essendon Bombers on June 29.

The Sydney Swans have performed incredibly well throughout the season, losing just one match and clinching victories in 13 games. The Essendon Bombers, set to face the Geelong Cats in their upcoming match, secured the third spot on the ladder, followed by the Collingwood Magpies.
