According to Zero Hanger, Richmond midfielder Liam Baker has held talks with West Coast about a potential move to the footy club at the end of his contract. Baker is in the final months of his contract with the Tigers, and there are speculations that the two-time premiership player could settle for a move back to his home state of West Australia.
The 26-year-old is yet to decide on his career after the current season and has attracted huge interest from Perth-based clubs West Coast and Fremantle. Richmond have a Round 15 bye.
As reported by 7 News journalist Mitch Cleary, Baker met with the West Coast while spending the break in his hometown.
"Liam Baker had his break back home, then spent (Thursday) in Perth meeting with the West Coast Eagles. He's out of contract this year. The Eagles and Dockers are both super keen on Liam Baker.
"The fact he met with the Eagles in his mid-season break gives him something to think about in the run home, Cleary said.
However, Richmond wants Baker to stay put at Punt Road and have him at the top of the list of players they will look to offer new contracts ahead of 2025. Other notable names are Dustin Martin, Jack Graham, Dylan Grimes and Dion Prestia.
Baker will not be an unrestricted free agent at the cessation of his contract, which means a trade would be involved if he leaves the club. A first-round pick is likely to be involved in any deal for Baker.
Since his debut in 2018, Baker has amassed 121 appearances for the Tigers and has finished in the top-six for the club's past four best and fairest awards. Apart from his leadership qualities, his versatility makes him a huge asset for the footy club, so they will be keen to see him extend his stay.
Richmond Tigers return to action with difficult clash against Carlton Blues

Adam Yze's side will look to return to form, having lost before the break to Hawthorn in their last outing. They have recorded only one win in their last 10 matches.
They are 18th in the table with a 2-12 record and will hope to restart their campaign with a positive result over second-placed Carlton Blues.
