The Brisbane Lions will face the Melbourne Demons at the Gabba this Friday night for the first match of Round 16 of the AFL 2024 season. The Lions enter this match as the clear favorites.

They made a strong case in their last outing against Port Adelaide Power, beating them by 79 points. This was a strong statement considering that Brisbane often put up poor performances on the road.

The Lions have the better form between the two sides having only lost one match in two months, a surprising loss against the Hawthorn Hawks. They’ve kicked 100+ points for three weeks straight and seem to only to be increasing in momentum.

The two sides have already met this season, with the Lions prevailing over the Demons with a 22-point victory at the MCG in Round 5.

The Demons occupy the ninth spot on the AFL Ladder, two points ahead of Brisbane. Both teams will be desperate to win this game as it will help their chances of making it into the top eight.

Melbourne, who seemed to be one of the more formidable teams in the league, have been losing form in the past weeks. Their last game against the Kangaroos saw the Demons struggling to score against the lowest ranking team in the league and barely scraping by with a win.

The Lions are the heavy favorites for a reason. They’re the superior team between the two sides and are likely to emerge victorious come Friday night.
