West Coast free agent Elliot Yeo is reportedly on the verge of re-signing with the Eagles. With significant progress being made in negotiations between the veteran ball winner’s management and the club, a three-year contract is expected to keep him in Perth.

The midfielder has been one of the leading names on this season’s open market given his unrestricted free agent status, so a lot of rival clubs have indicated interest in acquiring him.

Adelaide, Geelong, North Melbourne, and Collingwood have been linked to the 30-year-old so far as West Coast work towards retaining their in-form star.

Previous reports on Yeo's next move suggested that the Eagles had offered him a disappointing two-year deal, while Adelaide and North Melbourne were piecing together much more appealing offers.

Ryan Daniels of 7 News Perth reported that the Eagles have increased their bid to three years - an offer that if Yeo now agrees with, will keep him in the blue and gold until at least the end of 2027.

Daniels revealed that a lot of bargaining over the past week between Yeo and the team has led to a favourable agreement. He said:

“There's been significant movement in recent days between the West Coast Eagles and Elliot Yeo. Yeo's now set to remain at WC on a 3-year deal. No signature yet, but the Eagles have come to the table after significant offers from multiple clubs.”

On Tuesday, Elliot spoke on the matter on 96FM, confirming that conversations with the club had opened up and that they were closer to a deal. He said:

"There's been more communication from West Coast, which is good. There's a lot more open communication, which hopefully in the coming weeks we can come to an agreement. Yeah [the dialogue] has [changed], I was getting a little bit worried. It's open now and hopefully we can come to an agreement."

The re-signing seems imminent, and if so, will see the Eagles retain the services of Yeo, as they move on to working toward landing a new deal for co-captain Liam Duggan.

Liam Duggan, Elliot Yeo, Jamaine Jones, Josh Rotham, Zane Trew and veteran Andrew Gaff are the six West Coast players who are eligible for free agency this year.

Reportedly, Yeo is on the verge of signing a three-year contract extension, after which the Eagles would begin to work actively on retaining Duggan.

In previous years, Gaff has found it quite dificult to hold a role in West Coast’s senior side, leaving his future less certain.

Defense duo Jones and Rotham are each yet to settle new deals and are unrestricted agents as midfielder Trew makes it to the list of the season’s unrestricted free agents after being delisted.

So far, the Eagles have been able to retain Ryan Maric (until at least 2026), Hary Barnett (until at least 2026), Liam Ryan (until at least 2026), and Bailey J. Williams (until at least 2026) this year.
