Steph Curry is Sports Illustrated's 2022 Sportsperson of the year
By being named Sports Illustrated's 2022 Sportsperson of the Year, Curry has joined a couple of other athletes that have earned this honor multiple times: Tiger Woods, Tom Brady and LeBron James. The superstar first won it in 2018.
Curry had a fantastic performance against the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals. After averaging 31.2 points, six rebounds and five assists, the guard won another championship, his fourth.
Despite all the struggles the Warriors had in recent years, they ended up at the top. They've dealt with a lot of injury issues, but that did not prevent them from staying competitive and winning it all once again.
“I’m an internalizer. I internalized that throughout the entire year, the last three years," Curry said for Sports Illustrated. "Just let it marinate.”
After the Warriors won the 2022 NBA championship, Curry had several words for his haters and doubters:
“What are they gonna say now?”
The four-time NBA champion finished the series with a fantastic 34/7/7 performance in Game 6 and received the Finals MVP award for his efforts. This was his first such award, despite winning the title four times, which is something a lot of doubters criticized him for.
