Julie Powell Cause Of Death

Julie Powell passed away at the age of 49 due to a cardiac arrest, after a battle with COVID-19, as was confirmed by her husband, Eric Powell.

Best known for her blog, the Julie/Julia Project, her refreshing take on the otherwise pompous world of food blogging, opened the floodgates for several more to follow suit. She not only gave Julia Child a second lease on life but also sparked a Meryl Streep-led film.

Julie Powell had this air of relatability about her. She wasn't trying to prove a point about her cooking prowess. Instead, she was more than delighted to be the butt of jokes, and her self-deprecating style of writing, along with her ability to intercut the struggles of the average GenX woman with the struggle of following Child's recipes, garnered a massive, loyal fanbase.

She was by no means a professional chef. Instead, she used her mother's half-alive copy of Child's cookbook to cook all 524 recipes within a year. Perhaps people loved that aspect of her—her inexperience in the field of cooking.

Julie was able to take her wit, something she hadn't shared much of with people, and broadcast it to hundreds of thousands of people online. Her arrival came at a time when blogging was on the upward trend, and she was certainly at the forefront of it. Her free-spirited, fresh take on food blogging paved the way for so many more to follow, including Bobby Flay, Nigella Lawson, and several others.

She showed people that you don't need to be a culinary student to talk about food, not if you have a laptop and a dream.
