Breaking: Scheduled UFC heavyweight clash gets two-week delay

With UFC 284 in the rear-view mirror, that brings an end to the promotion's fourth event of the year, and as things start to heat up for 2023, it was announced today that the bout between Jake Collier and Martin Buday has been delayed.

The UFC has a fantastic schedule for the first half of the year and fans are being treated to a handful of championship fights, blockbuster returns, and high-profile matchups. While viewers will have to wait a little longer to witness the aforementioned heavyweight clash, the division's title bout remains firmly in place.

As announced on social media earlier today, Jake Collier's proposed meeting with the surging Martin Buday will be removed from the UFC Kansas City April 15 event and placed on a card held on April 29 instead.

"The heavyweight bout between Martin Buday (11-1) and Jake Collier (13-8) originally scheduled for April 15 at UFC Kansas City will now take place April 29, per multiple sources. Location for that is TBA."

'The Prototype' is looking to cut his bad run of form inside the octagon and get the first win under his belt since earning a rear-naked choke submission over Chase Sherman over a year ago.

Back-to-back losses against Andrei Arlovski and Chris Barnett have been tough for Collier, but he faces another extremely tough test when he welcomes Martin Buday into the cage in two months' time.

The Slovakian has been unbeaten in the sport for over half a decade, having suffered defeat just once throughout his career, which came in his second professional MMA bout. He is looking to improve to 3-0 in his UFC career with a win in his next outing.

After being rescheduled, Martin Buday's fight against veteran Jake Collier will now get underway on the same card as Brian Kelleher's bantamweight collision with Journey Newson.
