Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is a Slovenian professional basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. He is playing his seventh NBA season as a point guard/ Small forward for his team. At the age of 16, he became the club’s youngest player to make his senior squad for the academy, and Two years later he won the euro-league MVP after leading Madrid to the 2018 Euro League championships. In 2018, he declared for the NBA draft and was drafted as the third overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks. However, he was later traded on draft night to the Dallas Mavericks His on-court performances have earned him the title "Luka Magic."

Early age

Doncic was born in Ljubljana on 28 February 1999. After his parents’ separation, Doncic's guardianship was given to his mother. Doncic used to play various sports in his childhood but basketball became his favorite as time passed. At age seven, he started participating in organized basketball at a primary school in Ljubljana. During his childhood, He usually played with his older opponents who had more experience and were faster and bigger than him which helped him in improving his game. Doncic led Real Madrid to a second-place finish with an average of 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 3.3 steals per game. He was named the tournament MVP. Doncic joined Real Madrid's senior team as a regular in the 2015–16 campaign. He participated in a preseason NBA game on October 8, 2015, going up against the Boston Celtics, and he grabbed four rebounds, one assist, and one block. Doncic played for Real Madrid for three years (2015–18), winning the ACB title three times (in 2016, 2017, and 2018), as well as the EuroLeague in 2018. Luka Doncic became the sixth player in NBA history to lead their franchise in points, rebounds and assists while reaching the NBA Finals.

On February 1, 2025, Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick.

On his upper right back, he displays a distinctive tattoo featuring the world's seven continents, with Europe replaced by a crowned basketball, honoring his Slovenian roots. His left arm bears the Latin phrase "Non-desistas Non exieris" meaning "Never give up, Never surrender."

To commemorate Slovenia's 2017 EuroBasket championship victory, Doncic tattooed the tournament trophy and the date of the final game on his ribs. His left forearm showcases several interconnected designs, including a detailed tiger portrait from his Real Madrid days, along with an eagle and the Eye of Providence, which were added before his NBA debut with the Mavericks.
