5 WWE Superstars who could retire in 2019

There's an old saying: All good things must come to an end. This is just as true in WWE, as the fans have had to say goodbye to plenty of stars who have hung up the boots for one reason or another.

Whether it was Edge in 2011, Sting in 2016, or Paige just last year, the WWE Universe have sadly had to say goodbye to many fan favourites across the year.

In 2019, sadly, don't expect this to change, with the WWE having plenty of stars who will for one reason or another, whether it be injuries piling up, or just feeling finished, will say their goodbyes to in-ring competition, though will probably stay with the company in some kind of capacity.

#5. Jason Jordan

Jason Jordan's career may already be over.

Possibly the most unfortunate inclusion on this list, it seems that Jason Jordan's days in the ring are behind him. Debuting in NXT, Jordan was the tag partner of Chad Gable, with the pair capturing the NXT, and later the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, before splitting when Jordan moved to RAW.

Being revealed as Kurt Angle's son, Jordan seemed to be on the verge of a push, before going down with an injury in February. Now, nearly a year on, Jordan is yet to return to the ring, and in September transitioned to a backstage producer role.

Whilst there is a possibility of a return, it seems that Jordan's days in the ring are already behind him, and expect the company to make this publicly known at some point in 2019. A sad end to the career of one of WWE's most athletic stars in recent years.

#4. Goldust

Goldust debuted with the WWE all the way back in 1995.

When Goldust debuted in the WWF in 1995, very few fans could have expected just how long Dustin Runnels would go. With his bizarre mannerisms, unique offence and lust for all things golden, Runnels would tweak the character to keep it fresh, performing to this day, 23 years later.

But in 2018, it seems that Goldust has done everything there is to do as part of his in-ring career, and could hang up his boots in 2019.

Ending his career could open up plenty of possibilities for Runnels, who would presumably receive some sort of backstage role, where he would be able to put his decades of wrestling wisdom to use.

Leaving the ring could also see the Golden one take his rightful place alongside his father Dusty in the Hall of Fame, possibly inducted by his brother Cody.

#3. The Big Show

Big Show could be a great ambassador after retiring.

Debuting as a part of WCW, the career of the Big Show has been massive (pardon the pun).

The only man to win the WCW, WWE, ECW and World Heavyweight Championships, the 7-footer has also won the United States, Intercontinental, Hardcore and Tag Team Championships.

But when he made his return at SmackDown 1,000, many were left shocked that the Giant was even still a performer with the company, who signed him in late 1998. The only thing more confusing than Show's random pairing with the Bar was having him so abruptly leave the group, just weeks later.

Having the Giant confirm his retirement next year would allow him to rest a lot more, something he rightly deserves after decades of punishing his body for entertainment. Let's just hope he doesn't turn heel and face during his retirement speech.

#2. 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey

Rousey signed a one-year deal with the WWE when she joined.

As the current RAW Women's Champion, it seems unlikely that Ronda Rousey would be going anywhere in 2019.

But despite having one of the most impressive rookie years in wrestling history, Rousey reportedly only signed a one-year deal with the company, with the UFC star wanting to realise her dream of being a professional wrestler.

Clearly having done so, it makes sense for Rousey to retire in 2019, as she has made it public her dreams of becoming a mother, something practically impossible if she's on the road.

Whilst the WWE would no-doubt be hoping to keep Rousey in the ring a little longer, this plan was reportedly made clear to WWE before the contract was signed to have her debut at the 2018 Rumble.

Simply put, Rousey had done everything she has wanted to do in WWE.

#1. The Undertaker

The Deadman teams with Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.

The greatest character in wrestling history, The Undertaker has been digging holes and claiming souls ever since his debut at the 1990 Survivor Series.

Winning seven World Championships, as well as holding the record for most Pay per view victories, The Deadman has done everything there is to do in WWE.

But for the past decade or so, it's clear that he has slowed down, and despite his demonic persona, it's hard for the WWE Universe to look past the fact that the Deadman is old, competing in just a few matches a year.

If The Undertaker was to retire in 2019, he would easily be the headliner for either the 2019 or 2020 Hall of Fame and, if he appeared out of character, would no doubt entertain the crowds for hours with stories from his epic career.
