Despite coming from different anime worlds My Hero Academia Quirks and Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed techniques are very similar. Both series feature fantasy settings where good and evil powers clash.

In My Hero Academia, people are born with a “quirk factor” that eventually develops into an innate ability or “quirk”. Similarly in Jujutsu Kaisen, people are born with a latent curse ability, that evolves into a “cursed technique”.

Both My Hero Academia Quirks and Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed techniques are the quintessential elements of each anime and the plot and characters are created around these supernatural powers. This listicle tries to give a comparative understanding of both abilities with 10 similar My Hero Academia Quirks and Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed techniques.

From Endeavour's "Hellfire" to Monoma's "Poltergeist", here's a list of 10 My Hero Academia Quirks similar to Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Techniques

1) Hellfire & Divine Flames

Enji Todoroki aka Endeavor is one of the strongest My Hero Academia quirks users. His quirk, “Hellfire” enables him to manipulate fire and use it for long-close range combats. Enji can construct fire into any form, including using it as an overall suit for incredible defense.

While the King of Curses Sukuna’s primary cursed technique is “Cleave & Mantle”, he surprised the audience with his “Divine Flames” during his fight with Jogo. He uses divine flames for destructive long-range attacks forming them into fiery arrows.

Both “Hellfire” & “Divine Flames” are similar powers and require precise and incredible control.

2) Blue Flame & Disaster Flames

One of the key antagonists from My Hero Academia, Toya Todoroki aka Dabi, and Jogo from Jujutsu Kaisen have similar destructive power of flame/fire.

Dabi's quirk "Blue Flame" enables him to create and manipulate high-temperature ‘blue flame’ that surpasses the destructive power of Enji’s “Hellfire”. Jogo's "Disaster Flames" enables him to control “flame” and “lava” and generate attacks with high combusting power.

Dabi and Jogo both have destructive abilities that can turn anything into ash. They specialize in powerful attacks like "Hell Minefield" and "Coffin of the Iron Mountain." The key difference is that Dabi's body can't handle the heat of his flames, while Jogo is immune to any level of firepower.

3) Brain Washing & Cursed Speech

Shinso is a Supporting character in My Hero Academia who uses “Brainwashing”. While the quirk is activated, anyone replying to Shinso falls under a spell and he can make his prey do anything.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, Inumaki wields a similar cursed technique “Cursed speech”. Inumaki’s speech is imbued with cursed technique and his targets are compelled to anything he utters.

Although both abilities are fundamentally similar, they have many differences as well. Inumaki can use his cursed technique on both living and nonliving objects alike, however, Shinso cannot, since it needs a response from the target. While Shinso can activate and deactivate his quirk at will, all of Inumaki’s utterances are cursed, making him unable to converse normally.

4) Poltergeist- Copy

Neito Monoma’s “Poltergeist” is an extremely powerful My Hero Academia quirk enabling him to copy anyone’s quirk willingly and use it for 10 minutes. Monoma can copy more than one quirk at once, however he needs to touch the primary user to copy the quirk.

Not only, Yuta Okkotsu is blessed with an incredible amount of cursed energy, but he also wields a powerful Jujutsu Kaisen cursed technique- “Copy”. “Copy” enables Yuta to copy others’ cursed techniques for 5 minutes.

Poltergeist and Copy are fundamentally similar abilities that require a second person to activate and have a time limit. However, while they can only copy abilities in their base state, Yuta can enhance Inumaki’s "Cursed Speech" and store multiple cursed techniques inside Rika for later use.

5) Blood Control- Blood Manipulation

Sekijiro Kan aka Vlad King is one of the most unique My Hero Academia quirks users. Sekijiro uses his quirk “Blood Control” to use his blood to attack foes by manipulating their state, speed, and form.

Choso is the finest user of the Noritoshi family’s inherited technique- “blood manipulation”. It allows users to control their blood to create various attacking techniques.

Both techniques are similar but have different strengths and weaknesses. "Blood Manipulation" offers versatile abilities like body temperature control and strength enhancement but causes blood loss. In contrast, "Blood Control" allows reabsorption of blood, preventing severe blood loss, though it isn't as powerful or intimidating as "Blood Manipulation."

6) Creation- Construction

Yaorozu Momo is one of the key supporting figures in My Hero Academia. Her quirk “creation” enables her to create anything by transforming the atomic structure of the stored fat from her body.

Yorozu from Jujutsu Kaisen wields a similar cursed technique- “construction”. She can create any object if she has a structural understanding of the object.

While both abilities are fundamentally similar, they have a technical difference. Yorozu could construct anything with the help of her cursed energy giving it more flexibility than Momo’s “creation”, which was depended on fat stored inside her body.

7) Half- Cold- Frost Calm

Shoto Todoroki is one of the most powerful My Hero Academia quirks users. His quirk Half-Hot-Half-Cold surpassed his father’s limitations and is often invincible. While half-hot enables him to use fire, half-cold enables him to use and create ice willingly.

Uraume’s Forst Calm is a similar ability, enabling her to create ice for destructive attacks. Both abilities are extremely potent for long-mid-range attacks including powerful defense.

While both abilities seem similar, there is a fundamental dissimilarity. Uraume blows “freezing mist” which hardens into ice, but Shoto directly creates ice.

8) Dark Shadow- Ten Shadow Technique

In My Hero Academia, Tokoyami’s quirk allows him to have a “dark shadow” as a pet and use it for attacks. The dark shadow is attached to his body and increases its size while attacking. Since “dark shadow” is a “quirk”, it cannot be killed physically until his quirk factor is unharmed.

Megumi Fushiguro wields one of the most unique Jujutsu Kaisen cursed techniques, “Ten Shadows Technique”. It allows Megumi to use ten different shikigami. Initially, he received two “Divine Dogs”, the rest he had to gain through a ritual.

While both abilities enable the users to control a powerful creature, they have few differences. Dark Shadow is an “innate ability”, however, Ten Shadows Technique is an “inherited ability”. Megumi can gain control over ten shikigami while Tokoyami has only dark shadow. And, the dark shadow is vulnerable to light or fire but the shikigami has no such specific adversary.

9) Overhaul - Cleave & Dismantle

Chisaki is one of the most powerful My Hero Academia quirks users. His quirk overhaul enables him to dismantle and reassemble organic and inorganic matters. His ability allows him to cure wounds and even to merge himself with other organic particles.

Ryomen Sukuna’s innate cursed technique “cleave and dismantle” allows him to slash through anything and unleash powerful destructive attacks.

Chisaki’s “Overhaul” and Sukuna’s “Cleave and Dismantle” are both nearly invincible abilities. While being similar, they have some differences as well. “Overhaul” transfigures the structure of the matter while Sukuna only destroys it.

10) Warp Gate- Spatial Transference

Kurogiri’s quirk- “Warp Gate” is one of the most useful My Hero Academia Quirks. Like the name suggests, “warp” can manipulate the distance between two spatial points to teleport people and objects.

Ui Ui from Jujutsu Kaisen wields a similar ability- Spatial Transference. He can teleport himself and target individuals across vast distances. Moreover, his cursed technique, with permission enables him to transfer the souls of his target individuals without changing their bodies.

While both abilities use teleportation to travel across spaces, they have few differences. Kurogiri warps the distance and works as a portal gate, however, Ui Ui shifts the spaces internally and externally.

Final Thoughts

Both My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen have their unique plots and characters. While having different narratives the similarities in “powerup” abilities are truly astonishing.

The similar My Hero Academia Quirks and Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Techniques show how different anime and manga are influenced and enhanced by each other. It's a unique portrayal of creativity that can excite the audience to see both series in new perspective.
