Despite having very different storylines, both My Hero Academia ( Boku no Hero Academia ) and One Piece offer heroes with supernatural abilities (My Hero Academia Quirks, One Piece Devil Fruits) to amaze the audience.

In My Hero Academia, people are generally born with a "Quirk factor" that determines their supernatural ability in the future, e.g.- Dabi's Quirk is "Blue Flame" and Bakugo's Quirk is "Explosion". However in One Piece, people need to consume "Devil Fruit" to obtain supernatural power, e.g.- Ace consumed "Mera Mera no Mi" to gain his power.

My Hero Academia and One Piece are very different in their thematic nature, however, both of their plots depend on the supernatural abilities of the characters. Although One Piece Devil Fruits and My Hero Academia Quirks are very different from one another, they show many fundamental similarities in their power-ups. This list is a comparison of Devil Fruit's abilities and quirks to capture the similarities in their nature.

From Endeavor's Hellfire to Allmight's All-for-One: Here are 10 My Hero Academia Quirks similar to One Piece Devil Fruit abilities.

1) Quirk: Hellfire and Mera Mera no Mi

Endeavor's (Enji Todoroki) "Hellfire" is one of the strongest My Hero Academia Quirks. Hellfire is a versatile Quirk, while giving incredible combat ability using fire it also fortifies strong defense by covering the user's body in a fiery shield.

In the One Piece universe "Mera Mera no Mi" enables the user to produce and manipulate fire at will, making them fire incarnate in life. The power is so destructive that the previous wielder Portgas D. Ace was known by "Fire Fist Ace".

Both Hellfire and Mera Mera no Mi are fundamentally similar, and show similar characteristics and weaknesses, making them each other's counterparts in two different anime worlds.

2) Ouirk: Ice Ply and Hie Hie no MI

Even though Shoto Todoroki is one of the strongest new-gen heroes with his "Half-Cold, Half-Hot" Quirk, Geten surely wins the battle of Ice. Geten's "Ice Ply" is the strongest ice manipulation "meta ability" among My Hero Academia Quirks, granting him the power to manipulate ice at will. His ice control is so destructive that he froze the water supply of an entire town.

"Hie Hie no Mi" is a Logia-type Dragon Fruit, enabling the user to control, and produce ice at will. In One Piece, Kuzan used this ability to combat powerful foes and freeze sea waves.

Even though both abilities seem similar, they have different weaknesses. Geten can not produce ice unless he has access to water, while for Kuzan his ability makes him relatively slow and puts him in danger of any physical attacks.

3) Quirk: Electrification and Goro Goro no Mi

Another striking similarity, found among the Devil fruits and Quirk abilities is "controlling electricity". In My Hero Academia universe, Denki Kaminari has the Quirk "Electrification", which enables him to absorb, release and produce electricity, and regulate the voltage.

"Goro Goro no Mi" is a powerful Logia-type One Piece Devil Fruit, consumed by Enel. It grants him the power to create and become lightning while regulating the electricity voltage.

Although both attributes are fundamentally similar, One Piece Devil Fruit Goro Goro no mi is stronger than Kaminari's My Hero Academia Quirk- "Electrification", due to its magnanimous usability.

4)Quirk: Zero-Gravity and Zushi Zushi no Mi

Ochaco Uraraka's "Zero-Gravity" is one of the most interesting My Hero Academia Quirks. Uraraka can cancel out any gravitational force making any living and non-living object including herself fly around.

Issho's "Zushi Zushi no Mi" in One Piece grants him the power to create and manipulate gravitational force around him. He can make himself fly, attack, and even pull down meteors from the sky. Even though it's similar to Uraraka's "Zero-Gravity" it's much more powerful, versatile, and offensive.

5) Quirk: Reflect and Nikyu Nikyu no Mi

In My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission U. A. class 1-A fights with villain Flect Turn. Flect Turn's "meta ability" "Reflect" enables him to reflect any tangible or intangible attack to its user, he can even store an attack and reflect later by multiplying its magnitude.

Bartholomew Kuma's "Nikyu Nikyu no Mi" is one of the versatile One Piece Devil Fruit abilities shown in the universe. Kuma can not only repel any form of physical attack, but also any abstract concept like pain, and sorrow. He can repel the atmosphere in lightspeed to create shockwaves, making it a fierce attacking ability.

Both My Hero Academia Quirk "Reflect" and One Piece Devil Fruit "Nikyu Nikyu no Mi" are versatile and powerful abilities, however, both can repel anything and everything in contact with the user involuntarily.

6) Quirk: Invisibility and Suke Suke no Mi

Toru Hagakure’s Quirk “Invisibility” is one of the most unique My Hero Academia Quirks. Invisibility makes Toru invisible, making her a stealthy foe during battle. This advantage makes her perfect for spy missions and espionage.

A similar ability is found in One Piece- “Suke Suke no Mi”, this One Piece Devil Fruit grants the ability to become invisible. Due to this, the user- Shiryu became a formidable foe in the One Piece universe. Unlike My Hero Academia Quirk- "Invisibility", it can also make other things invisible as well, making it a superior ability.

7) Quirk: Decay and Yami Yami no Mi

The invincible villain Tomura Shigaraki’s quirk “Decay” is one of the most powerful My Hero Academia Quirks. His Quirk enables him to disintegrate anything he touches with his hands and feet, he can even destroy a whole town as soon as he touches its ground. His attack has no limit, wherever his decay starts any surrounding area or object would be destroyed too

Marshal D. Teech’s "Yami Yam no Mi" is one of the strongest Logia-type Devil Fruit abilities in the One Piece universe. It grants the wielder the power to maneuver darkness and devour everything inside a black smoke released from his body. Like Shigaraki's "decay", it can erase the trace of every particle by devouring them into nothingness.

Although My Hero Academia's Quirk “Decay” and “Yami Yami no Mi” are fundamentally different, they show one similarity- the destructive power to disintegrate.

8) Quirk: One for All (All Might Version) and Hito Hito no Mi: Model Daibutsu

Pro Hero All Might is the strongest hero in My Hero Academia universe and he wields the rarest My Hero Academia Quirk- “One for All”, passed down by Yoichi Shigaraki to stop “All for One”. All for One is a unique Quirk that manifests different abilities in different users. In All Might, it manifests a power-up ability, providing him with inevitable physical strength and speed.

“Hito Hito no Mi” is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit with multiple models. “Hito Hito no Mi: Model- Daibutsu” is one of the strongest One Piece Devil Fruit abilities, with no apparent weakness. It transforms the user into a huge ‘golden Budhha’ with extremely enhanced strength. Like All Might’s My Hero Academia Quirk “One for All”, "Hito Hito no Mi" is also a destructive power-up ability for close-range combats.

9) Quirk: Overhaul and Ope Ope no MI

Kei Chisaki’s “Overhaul” can be revered as the ultimate My Hero Academia Quirk. It grants him complete manipulation over any organic or inorganic matter. He can disassemble and reassemble anyone or anything, cure wounds, and even merge himself with another individual to use their Quirk. His ability gives him total control over the battlefield making “Overhaul” an extremely scary My Hero Academia Quirk.

“Ope Ope no Mi” is considered the ultimate One Piece Devil Fruit ability due to its surgical power. The user Trafalgar D. Water Law can conjure a spherical terrain surrounding him and control every organic and inorganic matter inside that sphere. He can remodel anything inside his terrain including wounds and heal them.

10) Quirk: Fierce Wings and Tori Tori no Mi: Model- Falcon

Pro Hero Hawks’ quirk “Fierce Wings” is another interesting My Hero Academia Quirk. It enables him to fly, carry people and objects around, and use his feathers as swords. His Quirk is versatile and very potent during any combat.

A similar ability is found among One Piece Devil Fruit abilities- Tori Tori no Mi: Model- Falcon. It grants the user Pell the ability to transform into a falcon and use the prowess of a falcom, including flying, and slashing with feathers.

To Conclude

Both My Hero Academia and One Piece show numerous supernatural abilities. These abilities are the main driving force behind the plotline and character development.

While being fundamentally different, the similarities between the My Hero Academia Quirks and One Piece Devil Fruits show how all anime and manga influence each other. The comparison between them provides an interesting perspective to the audience, and they become intrigued to watch both the series minutely.
