Episode 1 of Tamiki Wakaki's 365 Days to the Wedding anime series kickstarted the hilarious yet convoluted relationship between coworkers, Takuya Ohara and Rika Honjoji. Episode 1 of the 365 Days to the Wedding anime, titled Would you like to marry me?, started off with a glimpse at the hectic workplace of a travel agency named JTC, located in Tokyo. The focus of the episode then shifted towards the daily lifestyles and habits of two introverted coworkers.

On one hand, Takuya Ohara, often lagged behind in conversations due to his habit of thinking too much before speaking. Rika Honjoji, on the other hand, had a habit of unconsciously staring at people, which often made her seem agitated to others.

While they did not exactly stand out in any particular manner in their office, Takuya and Rika each led a fulfilling life at home. While Takuya had a cat named Kama as his pet at home, his only companion, Rika had an unusual fondness for maps. According to her, she could happily spend several hours studying them and not get bored.

However, a sudden announcement at their workplace of a new branch opening in Alaska threatened to put a permanent end to both Rika and Takuya's peaceful lives. Apparently, the company was planning to transfer any one of the unmarried employees at JTC's Tokyo branch to be the manager of the Anchorage branch in Alaska, which put Rika and Takuya at the risk of being transferred.

After coming across Takuya in a chance encounter at a park, Rika made up her mind and suggested that both of them could pretend to be married, in order to protect both of their respective personal lives at Tokyo. After some initial hesitation, Takuya agreed to this plan.

Given that this fake marriage was suggested by her in the first place, Rika decided to take full responsibility of the plan in order to make sure that both of them could successfully avoid the transfer.

That said, towards the end of the episode, Takuya decided to take responsibility of their fake marriage proposal. Although it didn't go as smoothly as he had hoped, Rika assured him that she would wait for him as long as it takes - hinting at an actual potential romance eventually developing between them. With this, the episode came to an end.
