Demon Slayer moments fans deserved to see

1) Scenes with past Hashira

To begin with, one of the Demon Slayer moments fans should have and were likely quite eager to see were scenes on past Hashira. In the series, viewers are introduced to the present Hashira in characters like Giyu Tomioka, Mitsuri Kanroji, Obanai Iguro, Kyojuro Rengoku, and others. They were masters of each Breathing Style, extremely powerful Demon Slayers, and second in authority in the Corps.

Not much was revealed about former Hashiras during Demon Slayer. Viewers only received references and very brief flashbacks providing information on the same. Done differently, this would have been one of the Demon Slayer moments, which would have been the cherry on top. For instance, Shinjuro Rengoku/Sakonji Urokodaki in action or Yoriichi Tsugikuni's feared Sun Breathing.

2) Development of the Hinokami Kagura

A major moment in Demon Slayer was Tanjiro Kamado's first use of Hinokami Kagura. Known to be the first breathing style, Sun Breathing, Hinokami Kagura, or Dance of the Fire God, was possessed only by the Kamado family. As revealed by Shinjuro Rengoku, Yoriichi adapted it to create other breathing styles for those who couldn't utilize the technique.

Jumping to the present, Tanjiro's first use of it left him unable to move, a condition from which he took a while to recover. As the series progressed, he gained a better grip on the technique and was able to use it for longer. However, the training with this technique was not sufficiently shown, which affects the character's power development in a way.

No doubt, it would have been interesting to see how he grasped the technique and added his own touch to it.

3) Muzan Kibutsuji's origins

One of the Demon Slayer moments that would have heavily intrigued fans would have been a deep dive into Muzan's origins. The series does divulge the first Demon's backstory briefly, about how he had been predicted to live only till the age of 20. But a certain medication given to him by a doctor had turned him into a Demon, giving him an incredible body but had made him weak to sunlight.

Perhaps a closer look at this story in action would have allowed fans to connect to Muzan on a deeper level. At the crux, he only wanted to survive but experienced a series of unfortunate events. Moreover, his modus operandi of seeking out the Blue Spider Lily and a fitting Demon wasn't pleasant.

Even so, similar to fans connecting with the Demon Slayers, a Muzan backstory deep dive would have done the same.

4) Kyojuro Rengoku's path to becoming a Hashira

Finally, another major Demon Slayer moments include Kyojuro Rengoku's introduction. From there, he went on to become a fan favorite and his demise was gut-wrenching. Although brief, his character arc in the series had viewers hooked. Labeled as one of the strongest among the Hashira, Rengoku was critical in igniting the fire within Tanjiro.

For such a character, it would have been interesting to see his journey to becoming a Hashira. Considering that his father held the position formerly, the foundations were set, and more so he was a special child, i.e., blessed with amazing physical strength and an indomitable will.

Needless to say, he was a beyond impressive Hashira and it would have been superb to see his previous exploits.

Demon Slayer moments that could been avoided

1) Spider Family backstory

Moving on, the introduction of the Spider Family was among the more chilling Demon Slayer moments. Comprising of five Spider Demons, they were led by Rui (Lower Rank Five of the Twelve Kizuki) and were a clan of demons on Mount Natagumo. Though he portrayed himself as the youngest son, Rui was the leader and the most powerful among the five demons.

This odd family was the reason many Corps. members lost their lives. While this was an interesting encounter for Tanjiro and the company, many felt that expanding on their backstory could have been avoided. This is due to their role ending with the arc itself and not affecting the main storyline. Instead, one or more of the Demon Slayer moments mentioned previously could have been focused on.

2) Tanjiro's Demon-ification

In the manga, Tanjiro becoming a demon at the end was surprising, making it one such Demon Slayer moments that could've been left out. The entire premise of the series was Tanjiro's hard-fought journey to turn his sister, Nezuko, back into a human again. Flipping this narrative and turning him into a demon at the end sort of took away from it a little.

Not to be mistaken, Koyoharu Gotouge swept the carpet from under everyone's feet. However, giving Tanjiro even those abilities seemed like a bit much. In his battle against Muzan, Tanjiro becomes an overly powerful demon, possessing all demon abilities and his Sun Breathing. Fortunately, he doesn't stay that way for long thanks to his friends and sister's efforts.

3) Drum Demon's prolonged battle

Kyogai aka the Drum Demon was certainly an interesting addition to the series. Like a couple of others, his origins were depressing and he didn't deserve the treatment he was metted out. Again, Tanjiro taking on Kyogai was among the more thrilling Demon Slayer moments. However, as the story progressed further, it seemed a little too drawn out.

Not to be mistaken, the fight was vital as it introduced the concept of Blood Demon Arts. Moreover, it was a testament to Tanjiro's adaptability. But as mentioned, many felt that the sequence was drawn out. Kyogai, taking nothing away from his unique abilities, seemed to lack the narrative weight of others like Daki. The lengthy focus on his backstory could have been trimmed.

4) Inosuke's Boar Mask antics

Finally, Zenitsu aside, Inosuke also makes for the funniest Demon Slayer moments. Be it during battle or outside of it, the loveable Boar Head always has something up his sleeve that never fails to crack up viewers. In essence, Inosuke often brings comic relief to the otherwise dark setting. However, there are moments when his over-the-top antics might be a bit unnecessary.

For instance, shouting and acting out in his boar mask during serious team discussions. Another example was during the early strategy meeting before marching to Mount Natagumo to face the Spider Family and his antics following the Entertainment District Arc and subsequent arcs. While humor is part of Inosuke's charm, this can detract from the urgency and gravity of settings.
