The Boruto manga has shown considerable progress over the past couple of months. The Two Blue Vortex chapters have introduced a new threat that could potentially harm the citizens of Konoha. That being said, the protagonists, Kawaki, Himawari, Kashin Koji, and Sarada, should be able to neutralize the Shinju in the coming chapters.
However, the village cannot afford to rest, as the Shinju’s defeat will not solve all problems. Based on how things are panning out, a civil war is brewing within Konohagakure, with the protagonist at its very center.
He has divided the village into two factions, prompting intervention from the Daimyo. Eida’s actions continue to have far-reaching consequences, affecting the people of the village even three years after she used Omnipotence.

Understanding how potential civil war is brewing within Konoha and why Boruto is at center of it
It is important to understand the event that could potentially lead to the aforementioned civil war. Eida used her Omnipotence to switch Kawaki and Boruto’s places. This resulted in the protagonist being mistaken for Kawaki, who sealed Naruto and Hinata in a different dimension. Ultimately, the protagonist becomes a fugitive, as the village blames him for the deaths of the Seventh Hokage and his wife.
Things took a turn when the protagonist managed to establish a private communication channel with Shikamaru, the current interim Hokage. He then realized the truth behind Eida’s abilities, keeping it a secret from the rest of the village. Ino, who set up the private channel in the first place, no longer wanted to help Shikamaru after her son was harmed in the process. She didn’t trust Boruto and therefore refused to help Shikamaru since her son was in a critical condition.
The Elders became involved, and they believe that Shikamaru isn’t doing a good job as the interim Hokage. They are demanding action, which could place the protagonist’s execution at the top of their top priority after the Shinju are neutralized. If this is the case, then a civil war could break out. Once the Shinju are neutralized, Sasuke Uchiha will return, and he is likely to side with the protagonist.
Joining him could be Sarada Uchiha, Shikamaru Nara, and Kashin Koji, among others. On the other hand, the likes of Kawaki, Ino, the Elders, and other important entities might be on the opposing side. Should this happen, an all-out civil war could potentially break out. It will also be interesting to see what side Kakashi would take in this matter as well.
In conclusion
Once the Shinju are no longer a threat, the Elders could prioritize Boruto’s execution. This could split the village into two factions - one that sides with the protagonist and the one that sides with the Elders. Eida’s Omnipotence is the root cause of this issue, and Kawaki’s cowardice will stop him from revealing the truth. The divide within Konohagakure could be the next big threat.
It is important to note that the articles explore a fan theory, and we therefore urge the fanbase to patiently wait for the subsequent chapters’ release.
