The likelihood of a Demon Slayer sequel manga has been a topic of discussion on various social media platforms and forums. Koyoharu Gotouge’s magnum opus has captured the attention of millions of fans across the globe.
From afar, this might seem like the average shonen anime done well. However, that is not the case, as some elements make the series stand out. When we take a closer look at the manga, one can understand that it’s not just high-octane action that drives the narrative.
Since this is the case, a Demon Slayer sequel manga would be incredibly entertaining for fans to read. Furthermore, the release of a Demon Slayer sequel manga would be ideal before the Infinity Castle movies make it to the big screen.

Why a Demon Slayer sequel manga could be a great idea

As mentioned earlier, the action and fight sequences featured in Demon Slayer do not drive the narrative. Given that the series is set in a world where demons run rampant, there are a ton of fight scenes. Therefore, one might suggest that these action scenes are essential to the story.
While that could have been the case, it is important to pay attention to Gotouge’s character writing as well. One of the reasons why Demon Slayer is so enjoyable is the character interactions that take place in the animanga series.
Not only are the interactions entertaining but every character has their own value system and traits that make them stand out. This is also why it could be hard to choose a favorite character since most of them are easy to adore.
Given that the Infinity Castle arc is being adapted into a movie format, the production could take quite some time, and the extended gap could have a negative impact on people's perception of what is considered the best arc in the series. Therefore, engaging the audience with a sequel during this period could be a great strategic move.

While it might be a tough pill to swallow, the manga is a tad bit underwhelming when compared to the anime adaptation. The source material was entertaining due to the wholesome and hilarious interactions between various demon hunters, but it lacked in the action department.
Therefore, should a Demon Slayer sequel manga be in the works, it doesn’t have to necessarily rely on action. It could take a different approach altogether, based on how the current series ended.
The manga ended with Kibutsuji Muzan’s death, and how the current generation of demon hunters’ lineage continued. The Demon Slayer sequel manga could take two different approaches, and both could be a slice-of-life story.
Tanjiro Kamado and other characters’ romantic interests were not explored in the series. The sequel manga could potentially explore these relationships, and show the lives they led after the death of the Demon King. This could be a slow-paced series that would highlight Gotouge’s character-writing prowess.
Another approach that the Demon Slayer sequel manga could take is showing the lives of the kids whose ancestors were the main characters of the original series.

The likes of Kanata Kamado and other descendants go to the same high school. Since that’s the case, it could take a slice-of-life route, with an emphasis on comedy, wherein the sequel is episodic - each chapter poses a problem that the characters could solve.
The result could be something along the lines of Kaguya Sama: Love Is War, but with the romantic elements being toned down and replaced with a splash of sports/action moments.
This would make for an interesting sequel manga that could allow Gotouge to explore his writing, should he choose to embark on his journey of taking on a different manga genre.
