Yuji and Junpei might be one of the most anticipated duos in Jujutsu Kaisen, given their perfect chemistry. Moreover, Junpei awakened his cursed technique during his character arc, making their partnership possible. A Reddit user (@Dismal_Strawberry_58) captured this sentiment in a fanart that showcased both characters in their glory.
The fanart features both characters using the Black Flash technique, resembling the popular attack Yuji and Nobara used against Kechizu and Eso. Sadly, like many character fanarts from the series, this one evokes a sense of sentimentality rather than happiness due to Junpei's ultimate fate.

Jujutsu Kaisen: What is the new fanart that reimagines Yuji and Junpei?
The fanart shared by the Reddit user features Itadori Yuji, the main protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, and Junpei Hoshino, the supporting protagonist of the Vs Mahito arc. The fanart reimagines them using the popular cursed technique, Black Flash, from the anime adaptation.
Moreover, the fanart looks like the reimaging of the popular scene where an injured Nobara and Yuji used the same cursed technique against the cursed spirits, Kechizu and Eso (the primary antagonists of the Death Painting arc).
The friendship of Yuji and Junpei
Junpei Hoshino was one of the supporting characters of Jujutsu Kaisen, introduced in the Vs Mahito arc. At the start, Junpei was bullied by his classmates and forced to do deeds that he didn't like. This led to him fearing humans, and, presumably, his fear contributed to the birth of the unregistered special-grade cursed spirit Mahito, which embodied the same fear.
Mahito's first appearance showcased him killing some of Junpei's bullies, giving him hope for the future. Following this incident, Junpei crossed paths with Itadori Yuji, who was investigating a case with Ijichi. Upon their first meeting, they connected instantly and became fast friends.
Itadori was then introduced to Junpei's mother, who felt relieved that her son had finally found a friend. Unfortunately, Mahito had other plans because he purposely got Junpei's mother killed so that his hatred would grow to an extreme level.
Unfortunately, the same happened, and Junpei was now out for blood, as he had also awakened his cursed technique. Fortunately, Yuji arrived to save him but was too late and saw Junpei's body getting destroyed by Mahito before his eyes. The saddest thing about this was how Gege Akutami and MAPPA studios gave the fandom hope that Junpei would join Yuji's side in the future.
In an alternate universe, as seen in the fanart, the teamwork of Yuji and Junpei might have worked wonders, even if Junpei wasn't as strong as a normal cursed sorcerer. Their teamwork could have made a dynamic duo capable of going against the strongest enemies.
Final thoughts
The tale of Junpei Hoshino is indeed a sad one, considering how he didn't get to see the good days, which he deserved with Itadori Yuji in the Jujutsu Tech. His introduction could be considered a plot device for the introduction of Mahito, who later wreaked havoc by trying to kill everyone close to Itadori.
