On September 17, 2024, My Hero Academia and the international fast-food chain Burger King announced a collaboration. The collaboration consists of special burgers featuring Bakugo and Izuku and special T-shirts. On September 19, 2024, the T-shirt designs featuring the two protagonists of the series were revealed.

When the last chapter of the manga series was released, the fandom stormed the internet with memes. They stated that Deku had given up on being a hero and became a fast food employee. With the recent collaboration turning this meme into reality through the T-shirt design, the fandom can't help but admit that the internet successfully spread a different climax than the original one.

What is the My Hero Academia x Burger King collaboration?

The T-shirt designs for the My Hero Academia x Burger King collaboration featured Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya, changing the series' name to My Flame Academia. The shirt has two designs - one featuring Katsuki Bakugo wearing the Burger King crown and the other featuring Izuku Midoriya wearing the clothes and cap of a Burger King employee.

Of these two T-shirt designs, Deku's became popular for all the wrong reasons. Before becoming a design on a T-shirt, a similar design became popular following the climax of the series' manga when Deku became a teacher. However, online rumors alleged that he had given up on being a hero.

This led to memes about the character going viral, the most common being his becoming a fast food vendor/employee. With the recent Burger King collaboration, the fandom again lamented how the hero's satisfying climax was ruined through memes.

Reaction from the fandom

The fandom couldn't emphasize enough to read the final chapter of the manga after the fake allegations were turned into reality with the recent Burger King collaboration. A fan also noticed a detail where only Deku was wearing the employee costume, as Bakugo was just a customer in the T-shirt designs.

The fandom was again disappointed that most fans who were not following the manga considered these allegations to be the canon ending. They urged these fans to read the final chapter.

"Bro bakugo even has the crown and deku just has regular uniform" a fan said.
"Allegations fall flat when they can read" another fan claimed.
"Bro what allegations? it's just false lol" another one claimed.
"Not even allegations, if you just...read the series lmao" another one said.

Final thoughts

The fake allegations surrounding Deku reached an avoidable level when the manga series ended. However, the recent collaboration could have revived them through Deku's T-shirt character design.

Fake allegations and memes are acceptable as long as they are taken as a joke and do not affect any author's series. So, it is advisable to enjoy any author's work through legal sites and always make confirmation from canon sources.
