Kitetsu swords in One Piece are some of the strongest blades, if not the strongest ones, in the series. These swords are forged by one of the most skilled swordsmiths who have decades' worth of experience forging swords.
These blades are three in quantity and despite their amazing build and the power they hold, these swords are famous for being cursed, meaning that their wielder would eventually die due to carrying them around. Due to this, the sword would eventually return to the person who sold it, just like a classic tale of horror.
But their cursed nature can be overpowered by the luck of the wielder, thus making them an even more overpowered weapon. One Piece chapter 1117 confirmed the location of the last and the strongest Kitetsu sword, confirming that only the strongest swordsmen of the Grand Line can wield such blades. In this article, we will see which swordsmen wield the Kitetsu swords in One Piece.

Discovering the wielders of Kitetsu swords in One Piece
The first Kitetsu sword introduced in the series was Sandei Kitetsu, a normal-grade Meito sword. The sword was forged by Kozuki Sukiyaki, the father of Kozuki Oden. The sword was modeled after the second Kitetsu sword, the Nidai Kitetsu.
After Sukiyaki forged the sword, it was transported to the other side of the world and landed in the hands of a seller in Loguetown, Ipponmatsu. During the Loguetown town, the Straw Hat, Roronoa Zoro, visited Ipponmatsu's shop and wanted to buy Sandei Kitetsu.
The shopkeeper, afraid of the blade's cursed nature, refused to give it away. At this point, Zoro risked his hand and swung the sword above him, claiming that if it cut him, its cursed nature would be dangerous for the swordsman.
To Ipponmatsu's surprise, the sword didn't cut Zoro and fell to the ground. The shopkeeper, impressed with the show Zoro put on, gifted him Sandei Kitetsu and Yubashiri. To this day, Sandei Kitetsu is one of the three swords owned by the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates.
The second Kitetsu sword introduced in the series was Nidai Kitetsu, a great-meito sword. The sword was forged by Kotetsu, an ancestor of Kozuki Sukiyaki. During the Wano arc, after saving Tama, Luffy got his hands on this sword.
After borrowing it, Luffy went to the open to play with it until he saw Zoro coming from afar. These two met up after an arc and Zoro was happy to see his captain doing well and returning alive from Whole Cake Island.
But Zoro was more interested in the sword Luffy had. Despite his repeated requests, Luffy didn't let Zoro see Nidai Kitetsu. They were then raided by Basil Hawkins where Luffy used Nidai Kitetsu's hilt to fight, thus risking damaging the sword and putting Zoro on edge.
The sword eventually fell into the hands of the Beast Pirates who took it to Udon. During the latter part of the Wano arc, Kiku retrieved the sword and handed it over to its true owner, Kozuki Sukiyaki.
Lastly, the third Kitetsu sword, and possibly the strongest sword, when compared to the other Kitetsu swords in One Piece, is the Shodai Kitetsu. The wielder and forger of this sword are yet to be revealed officially, but the former likely have been confirmed in the series.
In chapter 1117, during a clash between Zoro and Saint Nusjuro, the latter possessed a Kitetsu sword, as confirmed by the former. As two of these blades are already owned, Saint Nusjuro likely has the last and strongest Kitetsu sword, Shodai Kitetsu.
