Yuji Itadori finally got his moment to shine in chapter 257 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, where he showcased his true strength during his visceral battle against Ryomen Sukuna. In the recent chapters of the manga, Yuji was revealed to have achieved several new power-ups, including Reverse Cursed Technique and Blood Manipulation.
What surprised fans the most about Yuji's sudden growth was the fact that he had somehow managed to learn several new techniques in the span of one month prior to his clash with Sukuna.
While no explanation behind Yuji's explosive growth has been provided as of yet, fans are nonetheless glad to see their favorite character finally being on equal footing with the King of Curses. Although it's only to be expected that Yuji might get a few more power-ups in the upcoming chapters, let us look at all of his current powers in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
Explaining all 7 of Yuji Itadori's current powers in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga
1) Shrine
In chapter 257 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Yuji Itadori surprised Sukuna, as well as the readers, when he used the latter's own Cleave and Dismantle slashing attacks against him. It was then explained that after Yuji had entered into an awakened state following his Black Flash attacks on Sukuna, he was able to draw out the latter's innate "Shrine" Cursed Technique and use it as his own.
While it was pointed out by Sukuna that Yuji's slashing attacks had a lower output than his own, it was regardless a massive feat for the latter to be able to use it in the first place.
2) Blood Manipulation
Something that was being speculated by fans for a long time was finally confirmed in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 251 — Yuji was able to use Blood Manipulation.
Blood Manipulation originally used to be the staple technique of the renowned Kamo clan. While it hasn't been explicitly stated in the manga, it's safe to assume that Yuji was taught the basics of Blood Manipulation by Noritoshi Kamo. So far, Yuji has been shown to be able to use Piercing Blood and Supernova, both of which he used against Sukuna in the recent chapters of the manga.
3) Direct Soul Damage
Yuji being Sukuna's vessel for a considerable amount of time allowed him to be aware of the contours of the soul, which was something that was pointed out by Mahito. As such, Yuji can deal direct damage to his opponent's soul with his attacks, similar to Mahito's Idle Transfiguration.
This unique ability also enabled him to disturb the harmony between Megumi and Sukuna's souls, thereby allowing him to weaken the latter's hold on the former's body. It should also be noted that apart from Mahito, Yuji is probably the only one who can directly harm his opponents' souls.
4) Soul Swapping Technique
It was once revealed that Yuji was able to swap souls with a willing participant, as witnessed during the time when he sparred with Atsuya Kusakabe while being in the latter's body.
Although no further explanation was given behind this new-found ability, it can be assumed that this technique is similar to Kenjaku's Body Swapping Technique, without the requirement of literally swapping brains with a dead person.
5) Black Flash
Black Flash is a move that is said to depend solely on luck, as not even the likes of Satoru Gojo can pull it off at will. However, that's not the impression one gets while facing Yuji, as he is perhaps the only person who makes it seem like he can use Black Flash at will.
This claim was put on full display during his ongoing showdown against Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257, as he managed to hit the King of Curses with seven consecutive Black Flashes in the same chapter.
6) Reverse Cursed Technique
In the one month leading up to the monumental showdown against Ryomen Sukuna, Yuji somehow learned how to use the Reverse Cursed Technique in order to heal himself and regenerate his lost body parts.
This is undoubtedly one of his most impressive feats in the entirety of the series, as even someone like Gojo had to go through a near-death experience in order to get a grasp on the Reverse Cursed Technique. While he may not be as proficient in using the technique as Gojo or Hakari, Yuji has been able so survive several point-blank Cleave and Dismantle attacks from Sukuna in the ongoing battle.
7) Divergent Fist
Divergent Fist was one of the first attacks that Yuji had managed to learn in his first couple of months as a Jujutsu sorcerer. This technique enabled him to make a stronger second impact after he lands his first punch on his target. Although Yuji wasn't able to perform this technique as proficiently at first, he is now able to use it at will during most of his fights.
Final Thoughts
Yuji Itadori's exponential growth in Jujutsu Kaisen is certainly one of the most impressive character growths in the entirety of the series. In less than a year's time, he managed to become strong enough to stand on equal footing with the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, and is currently going blow for blow against him in their ongoing fight.
