Jujutsu Kaisen will mark the end of its story in late September 2024. Megumi Fushiguro, one of the first characters introduced, spent the latter half of the story as a passenger, with Sukuna fully possessing his body.

Although Megumi essentially lost most of his technique and its functions toward the final few chapters, the various aspects tied to shadows and their potential applications offer a way to list how Megumi could improve the now incomplete technique.

Disclaimer- This article contains huge spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen series.

Storage, Attack Absorption, and 7 other ways Megumi Fushiguro could improve the Ten Shadows technique after Jujutsu Kaisen's end

1) Portable Storage

Megumi's Ten Shadows technique has already demonstrated utilities beyond summoning shikigami. The technique allows the user to have almost complete control over their shadow, enabling them to enter other shadows and use shadows around them.

This was evident when Megumi used his shadow to store cursed tools and stored himself in someone else’s shadow during the raid on Hakari’s hideout. Megumi could potentially store some of his allies and take them into infiltration or other meetings undetected.

2) Attack Absorption

The dimensional pocket aspect of the Ten Shadows technique is arguably one of its most versatile features, with its applications being limited to the user. Although Megumi lost almost all of his shikigami during the final battle as Meguna, clever use of the Ten Shadows could make him nearly invulnerable by absorbing attacks into his shadows.

While the availability of shadows is crucial for this application, Megumi will always have his own shadow, and even his uniform will cast a shadow for him to utilize.

3) Moldable Terrain: Puddle Creation

Megumi could also use the pocket dimension aspect of his shadows to mold the terrain around him, creating puddles or uneven ground to give himself every possible advantage in a fight.

With Sukuna and Gojo both gone, the remaining antagonistic forces in Jujutsu Kaisen consist of governments and rogue sorcerers. In sorcerer vs. sorcerer battles, Megumi could overpower his opponent in hand-to-hand combat while turning the terrain against them.

4) Weapon arsenal

Megumi could use his shadow pocket dimension to store numerous weapons or cursed tools, potentially carrying an entire armory inside his shadow. Although there was a known weight limit for storage, Megumi has been shown to store entire trucks and building debris.

After serving as Sukuna’s vessel, Megumi has likely grown stronger and may now be able to carry a much larger arsenal within his shadow.

5) Remote deployment of Shikigami

The shadows serve as the basis for the shikigami that are summoned. Although the survival of Megumi’s shikigami is uncertain, it is possible that less powerful shikigami like the Twin Dogs and toads survived.

To maximize his incomplete technique, Megumi could summon shikigami directly next to the opponent instead of the usual method of having them appear near him. While this might not have a potent effect, it would still optimize the remnants of the technique after Sukuna’s battle in Jujutsu Kaisen’s finale.

6) Well’s Unknown Abyss

Well's Unknown Abyss, introduced in the series' early chapters, hinted at the Ten Shadows’ Totality aspect, which combines the abilities of fallen shikigami into surviving ones. Gege Akutami clarified that the combinations created by Well's Unknown Abyss are more fragile than the originals but will not be eliminated completely upon defeat.

Megumi could utilize this aspect to preserve his remaining shikigami. If the Twin Dogs and Rabbits are the only ones left, Megumi could fuse them to create a fragile yet endless supply of hunting rabbits to overwhelm his opponents.

7) New Techniques using Max Elephant

Max Elephant was one of Megumi's strongest shikigami before Mahoraga was introduced. Megumi’s limited cursed energy and inexperience prevented him from using Max Elephant to its full potential.

Given that partial manifestation and size manipulation of shikigami became possible through Sukuna’s fights against Tsumiki and Gojo, Megumi could mimic these applications to create a miniature Max Elephant and increase its water pressure, forming a technique similar to Piercing Blood.

8) Pit Traps

Megumi could potentially combine the storage and partial manifestation aspects of his technique to create pit traps with Twin Dogs or other shikigami waiting inside to ambush opponents. This would also help preserve his remaining shikigami after the events of the Jujutsu Kaisen story.

9) Poison trap inside his shadow

With most of Megumi’s shikigami destroyed during the Sukuna fight, his technique is now almost non-functional. If none of his shikigami remain intact, Megumi could store chlorine or other poisonous gases inside his pocket dimension, along with a gas mask for himself, as a last resort.

Since most of his opponents after Jujutsu Kaisen’s conclusion will be human rather than curses, storing poisonous gas could prove effective against them.

Final thoughts

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 will be released on September 29, 2024, marking the end of the series. A part 2 for the manga has not been announced yet, but the anime is still ongoing, with Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 scheduled for release in 2025. It is possible that part 2 will be announced alongside season 3.
