Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 10 recap
The episode begins with Masachika Kuze having trouble concentrating on his studies. Suddenly, he gets a phone call from Alya, who asks if he's studying or not. Alya knows that Masachika often slacks off when he's alone. The boy reveals that he can't find the motivation to study, and asks Alya if she can give him some tips.
Alya promises the boy that she will do anything he asks if he accomplishes his goal of placing in the top 30 of his class. If Masachika doesn't, he has to do one thing that Alya asks him to do. During their conversation, Alya also finds out that Masachika's birthday has already passed.
She is slightly disappointed as she would have loved to celebrate it with him. After the exams, Masachika and Alya walk home together. The former realizes that his friend has been acting weird since their last phone call. After enquiring, he finds out that Alya is upset at not being invited to his birthday party.
Masachika tells Alya that he didn't hold any party, which the girl finds hard to believe. Apparently, it's normal in Russia for people to hold their birthday parties. Understanding Alya's feelings, Masachika decides to give her a belated birthday bash.
The episode time-skips to that day, with Alya appearing well-dressed at the designated location. Masachika and Alya enjoy their date at a restaurant, where they discuss their plans regarding the closing ceremony. The boy feels they must close the gap with Yuki if they want to have any chance of winning the election.
Meanwhile, the date turns into an embarrassing affair for Masachika as Alya feeds him using the same spoon she used to eat, thus sharing an indirect kiss. The silver-haired girl also gives him a fancy mug as a gift, which he loves. Later, the episode switches to the student council room, where Kenzaki reveals that they will introduce the new summer uniform soon.
After a short meeting, Maria goes to clean the dishes, accompanied by Masachika. She apologizes to the boy for the hypnosis day's incident. While Maria is glad that nothing serious happened that day, she pouts in anger after learning that Masachika saw her undergarments.
Later that day, Masachika's paternal grandfather arrives at the school for the parent-teacher meeting in the absence of the boy's father, who had to go to England for an urgent business.
The old man is delighted to meet Alya, whom he wants to marry his grandson. After the parent-teacher meeting, Masachika notices Yuki and his mother. Masachika's mother turns her head away from him, like she did in the past. The episode ends dramatically, with the boy pained to see his mother.
