Picking up the events from the previous installment, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 3 opens with Alisa Mikhailovna Kujo, aka Alya, returning home at night. Maria, her older sister, gives her a warm hug and observes that she's down for some reason.
As such, she asks Alya whether something is bothering her. Alya reveals that she met Masachika and his childhood friend. Maria feels that Alya always gets worked up when it comes to Masachika Kuze. She gushes over the idea that her younger sister has finally found a boy who can move her heart.
Maria asks her sister whether she likes Masachika Kuze. However, the silver-haired girl rejects the idea, saying he's like a friend. Maria finds it surprising because she felt Alya was indifferent to guys who slack off.

Six years ago, in Vladivostok, Alya's middle school teacher had split the classroom into two groups and given them the task of writing a report on local businesses. However, Alya realized that barring her, no one in her group took the assignment seriously.
As a result, the other group secured better credits. Since then, Alya firmly convinced herself that she wouldn't rely on anyone. She would try to do everything on her own since no one is as driven as her.

Alya formally introduced herself as Alisa Mikhailovna Kujo and learned that the male student's name was Masachika Kuze. Slowly, Alya realized that Kuze was one of those students she considered "slackers."
Following that in Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 3, Alya learned about the School Festival of Seirei High. As usual, she devoted her time and energy to ensuring the event was a success.
However, she slowly realized that like the middle school, no one beside her was interested in seriously organizing an event. Yet, that was until one day, when Masachika Kuze approached her. The boy told her to take some rest.
Masacihka assured Kujo that he had convinced the handicraft team to help with the ghost costumes for the haunted house. He also requested the former student council president to pull some strings and allow the school to let the boys work at night.
Masachika felt the boys in his class would accept since it would give them a chance to look good. Alya was taken aback by the boy's gesture. Masachika Kuze further told Alya that school festivals are meant for everyone to enjoy in unison.
If Alya wanted to focus on something, it would have been better for her to convince others to work. The silver-haired girl realized that her first impression of Masachika was wrong. The next morning, Masachika Kuze appears at the student council to cover for Suou Yuki. Interestingly, he meets Alya's older sister and the student council secretary, Maria Mikhailovna Kujo. She urges Masachika to call her Masha.
Maria, aka Masha, then clutches Masachika Kuze's hands and stares deeply into his eyes. After a while, she suggests they go for shopping. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 3 then shows Maria and Masachika entering a stuffed toy shop.
Maria wants to buy stuffed toys resembling every student council member. Yet eventually, she settles for the one that she feels looks like her sister. Maria calls the toy Alya-nyan and hands it to Masachika before entering a tea shop.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 3 then shows Maria asking Masachika whether he would like to taste the tea. However, the boy tells her that he's not very fond of red tea. Suddenly, he remembers a painful memory from the past, when his parents settled for a divorce.
Maria notices Masachika's glum face, so she gives him a warm hug. Masachika Kuze finds Maria's hug not only familiar but relaxing. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 3 ends on a light note, with Maria accidentally spilling the tea on Kuze.
